What are you talking about, bioware confirmed it was a part of a trilogy before the game even came out. It's a fact, not a rumor.

    Also:

"I WILL DESTROY YOU!" "GO GO GO!"... can't stand these lame quotes anymore lol, they should've recorded some more.

Finishing up my 4th (Insanity) run right now, and man I have to say those Krogan really suck -_-.

Playing as a Soldier, so it's been fairly easy, but those damn things will knock you down so many times, my Immunity keeps wearing off and I die faster than I can blink when that happens.

I either Lift them (or tell a party member to do it) which makes them very vulnerable to damage, or just fucking hit them with Neural Shock and barrage their heads with bullets.

This is by far one the best games I've ever played. Love the story, love the gameplay.

    Re: Mass Effect

Insanity is pretty intense, even at level 60... having a lot of fun though heh, playing as a soldier with Tali/Liara in my group.

edit: HOLY FUCK Benezia on Insanity is fucking..well... INSANE... I can't believe I actually beat her, I was out of first aids and all my abilities seem to be locked, thank god for Liara using Lift on her in the last second or I would've been dead heh. (the beginning of the fight was fine, taking out all her allies until her powers are drained, the problem started when I fought her and could actually damage her, the 4-5 asari commandos surrounding the area kept killing me so this time I completely ignored Benezia even though she follows you around now and somehow managed to kill all the followers... but FUCK that was kinda epic lol.)

Actually, the promised trilogy got shelfed briefly. This was the last thing I heard (on various other sites, as well):

If it's confirmed now, that fuckin rocks.

    Re: Mass Effect

Yeah okay, they originally said it was a trilogy. I wasn't aware that the acquisition put it in jeopardy.

Either way, seeing how well the game was received by the community I doubt they won't make a sequel now.

EDIT: Hate them all you want, but I just 1k/1k'd the game and had a fucking crapload of fun doing so (and wasn't even going out of my way to achieve these, just playing the game on different classes and different difficulties.) 6 playthroughs in total, 2 on casual 1 normal 1 veteran 1 hardcore and 1 insanity.

    Re: Mass Effect

The achievements that you acquire just by throughly playing a game own, I don't see why some people dislike them. There are obviously achievements that require ridiculous requirements but I don't think Mass Effect has any of them, from the descriptions I read.

They're all actually very well put, for a change. (Hi Blue Dragon and your 'level all classes with all the dragons to max level!' achievements..)

    Re: Mass Effect

It's kind of funny. I just played the orange box which had achievements that encouraged different methods of play but lacked anything real to give to you (fuck achievement points) but then I played mass effect which has achievements that don't encourage you to do anything differently really that you wouldn't do if you wanted to experience the whole game but give you actual incentive to do them.

If they took the best of both worlds it would have been a good thing.

    Re: Mass Effect

Actually, achievements in Mass Effect grant you certain benefits in new playthroughs (like if you unlock Liara, certain bio abilities get a lower recharge time, etc.)

So really, it was beneficial to get them for one, and 2nd of all I was actually having fun not worrying about whether or not they'll flag, they just kind of happened if I played through most of the game with said characters (you need to complete a total of 60 missions, including main and side quests together, with each of your allies in order to unlock their achievements... Liara for example would need more side quests than others because she joins so late and misses some of the earlier main mission quests that you go through, whereas Kaiden and Ashley get theirs flagged much earlier in the game because they are with you since Eden Prime.)

Sending this game back now that i've completely gone through everything there was to go through in it. Kind of sad since it really was one of the better games i've played in a very long time.

    Re: Mass Effect

Yeah, that's what I was saying. There was a reason to do them in Mass Effect but the achievements weren't anything interesting themselves compared to doing Ravenholm with only the gravity gun. That was a new and awesome experience.

    Re: Mass Effect

    Wow, just wow.

Just finished my first playthrough, and the ending has left me really impressed and excited for the sequels. If I have any complaints at all, its that while the side-quests did a fair job w/ their story, their pacing and presentation became far too repetitive. With the exception of the main storyline (where planets had more set paths), every planet you touched down on was essentially the same terrain w/ a pallet swap. It boiled down to killing people in facilities with identical layouts on nearly identical planets. Obviously that part of the game is extra, but since you have to do them to unlock certain achievements [(and these achievements are more than just points, they add bonuses to the gameplay), (completing most of the game, completing most of the game w/ x squad member)], a little more variety would've been nice.

As for the main story and its presentation/gameplay, damn. I enjoyed every minute of it, and I have to say that the charm ability was absolutely hilarious in the last encounter of the game. Going to start playing again soon, this time as a renegade (which should be fun if not for just the ridiculous things that'll happen), but I guess you really have to play the game a good four times to unlock all the achievements.

I actually liked Saren a lot more because of it, great character.

I just found it incredibly hilarious that two phrases could produce that result with the main villain of the game, lol.

Yeah, but it's better than the alternative. (dunno if you tried playing that part again without the charm/intimidate skills, that fight is pretty damn annoying.. >.<)

    Re: Mass Effect

Any idea if I can stand in one spot and just cast the spells/abilities 75 times w/o a target for the achievements?

For Biotics, Warp and Barrier don't need targets, and I'm not as certain but I don't think Singularity does either. Lift, Throw, and Stasis do need targets, but it doesn't need to be a mob, crates and the like work fine.

For Tech, idk since so far my only playthrough has been on Adept.

    Re: Mass Effect

Ah, good to know. I think I'm going to end up playing the story four times for 100%, since I screwed up w/ Liara on my first play and didn't get her achievement.

Just started a new career as an adept, going to hit up the paragon and two other squad achievements and see if I'm motivated enough to do a third play for the tech skills and a fourth w/ my original char for lvl 60. I also just don't want to use my main character to unlock the paragon achievement because I don't want to throw his good name into the toilet.
