For Biotics, Warp and Barrier don't need targets, and I'm not as certain but I don't think Singularity does either. Lift, Throw, and Stasis do need targets, but it doesn't need to be a mob, crates and the like work fine.

For Tech, idk since so far my only playthrough has been on Adept.
You got it all wrong basically lol...

You only need a target for spells that give an effect to the enemy and it SHOWS ON THE SCREEN (so AI Hacking, for instance, is needed to be cast on a mob because you need it to hack... if it doesn't then it doesn't count.

Lift and throw do NOT require targets because they don't do anything to the enemy (well they do, but it doesn't give them an effect.)

Neural Shock is also needed to be cast on mobs because it shuts their bodies down for a few seconds, same with Stasis because you need the enemy to be in a stasis state for a count to register.

All the others can be cast on a wall, in the air, whatever you feel like... doesn't need a target, just spam them while you're running around the citadel or w/e, doesn't really matter.
Also, it doesn't reset when you finish a playthrough, so if you did 74 throws in 1 playthrough and 1 more in a new one, it will still give you the achievement.

EDIT: 1 more thing is that it doesn't matter if your character was a paragon in the last playthrough... while you DO maintain your level and gear, the paragon AND renegade status reset and so does the story, so it's like you didn't do anything.

I know it doesn't matter as far as the game goes, I meant it on a personal, somewhat gay attachment to my character way.

Oh okay... but it will take your 3 playthroughs to get to level 60 (the 2nd of your 2nd playthrough should end at 58-59 if you're lucky, and then the majority of your 3rd will take approximately the entire game, including side quests, to get the 200k~ needed from 59-60), so might as well do it.

By the way there's a very easy way to cap both renegade and paragon BOTH very early in the game, when you're in Noveria and convince Lorik Q'uin to testify against the Anolais(sp?) dude, you can keep asking him to testify over and over again using BOTH Charm and Intimidate and get +25 every time you do so, so you should probably look into that. Just make sure both skills are leveled high enough before you go to Noveria so you could actually use those chat options in the first place.

On Feros, does the number of colonists left alive affect anything?

+2 paragon for each living one

+2 renegade for each dead one

Also a few quests from living dudes.

SPOILERS: as far as Saren killing himself, it would have been a lot cooler if Benezia and Fai Dan didn't already do it.

After a renegade playthrough, I was really dissapointed how little it affected the game. Intimidate and charm rarely did anything different aside from giving renegade and paragon points. There were no real advantages to one over the other and being paragon or renegade had almost no bearing on the plot, which sucked after having good/evil be important in Bioware's other games.

Also the female voice actor >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the male one

I agree about the VA thing, the male one was just horrible and really didn't get into it. The female one was extremely well done though.

She was a voice actor in Star Wars: Knights of the Republic as well.

I thought Seth Green was pretty hilarious too.

I think Seth Green being one of the sort of main characters was my favorite part.

No, go try it. I spammed lift, throw, and stasis on empty space on a random side quest planet. I had just unlocked stasis so I tracked each time I used it. I reached 75 and it did not unlock, so I went to 85, still no achievement. Since I had had access to lift and throw for a while, they should have unlocked long before stasis hit 75 uses, they did not. I did the process again on a bunch of Feros crates, got all 3 achievements.

And I got lift and throw casting it on a crate in the medical bay.. so?

Uh? So you already knew they needed a target? Why did you say I got it wrong when this is exactly what I said?

Edit: Also to further clarify, Stasis absolutely works on crates, you just can't tell because it doesn't have a name to display that it has the effect. You can, however, observe the crate is in stasis by casting lift first. Lift then Stasis the crate, it will freeze in the air for the duration of the stasis.

    Re: Mass Effect

I figured it was the same as AI Hacking and Neural Shock because those seemed like they only registered on enemies.

And a lot of people claimed they got the achievement by casting Lift on the floor/air/whatever, so either you did something wrong or they hit something without realizing it.

    Re: Mass Effect

I know people have said that, but my experience was conclusive enough for me. 75 casts at the ground netted no achievement, repeating the same process on crates did. Since Xavier was the one who wanted to know I'll say this; cast it on some random crates to be absolutely sure you won't have to do it twice.

Question: Who here hasn't played KOTOR? I'm seriously going to go replay that once I finish up Jade Empire which I just got.

Most definitely, the general feel is very similar but IMO it is much better (as has been quite evident in this thread ). Unless you have some crazy hatred of Star Wars (there are a few of those out there) you will absolutely adore it.

You'll laugh when you hear about the main bad guy trying to find an ancient and powerful artifact that summons an army of extremely powerful robots that wiped out an ancient civilization though >_>

Also, avoid spoilers. Trust me on this

Oh wait, know what I said about both xbox or PC version being ok? That was a lie. Go PC. The graphics hold up much better and it was released in '03 so I'm pretty damn sure your comp can run it.

I don't know if he will necessarily love it. I loved Mass Effect but could never really get into KOTOR. Even after beating the game and getting through the plot twists it just didn't do it for me. Mass Effect to me just felt way better put together and a lot more polished. Also the combat system in KOTOR drove me nuts. HK-47 was one of the best characters ever though.

EDIT: for the record I do like Star Wars.

See, Mass Effect seemed a lot sloppier to me with how they dealt with the sidequests and the all-purpose minigame of boringness and lack of any items that were cool.

    Re: Mass Effect

That's the one thing I hated the most about Mass Effect. If I'm getting new weapons, at least make them look different. And I'm not talking a different color skin or a nice little red stripe. Make it look like you put a little effort into the weapon design system. The armor was at least slightly different.

The side quests were ok. But they needed to make the worlds not straight from the cookie cutter.

I hope that's something they work on for the next one. That and I hope they jettison that fucking Mako out into the sun along with whoever came up with it in the first place.

They have like 60 side quests stuffed inside a DVD along with the rest of the game.. i'm sure that if they had more space the levels would have at least LOOKED different.
