Uh, no it fucking isn't. If the fight didn't last long enough for the tags to give me a reasonable portion of the EXP/AN I earned, it's a waste of time waiting around to get a marginally larger reward from my tags when I could be at the next campaign battle.

Think about it, if I got 600 AN/1200 EXP total and it gets capped off at 500 for both, in the time it took for both to completely uncap and give me the other 100 AN+700 EXP, I could've done Campaign somewhere else for a reward of 700 EXP+700 AN.

If you're soloing mobs in a corner of the zone and delaying the end of a campaign, you're a selfish bastard. End of story.

I had been assuming the second "good" was supposed to be "not good"

    *isn't good, I missed that.

    Amazing the difference n't makes.

I solo mobs all the time, off to the side by myself, but I'm also soloing two or three mobs per campaign as there are usually just a handful of people where I campaign regularly.

"Off to the side" isn't so bad. I'll usually take a mob from the swarm and get away from the aggro and lag. However, I'm still easily within sight of the fort, and people will eventually run over and join me once their enemies are dead. The players that need to stop are the ones who take Quadav and hide behind the giant bone partition in Rolanberry.

To be fair, when I was doing Rolan a lot, I would get people to pull mobs over there, as theres no aggro from Goobs, and you can kill the mobs yourselves instead of having Striking motherfuckingsonofabitch3kMistral Bull kill everything instantly.

The best fights I got in Rolan had us moving southeast and intercepting the waves as they came, great big messy battles down that valley.

On Ragnarok, that's just how we handle Rolanberry. Charge up the hill to catch the Quadav as they're coming in, then run them back down the hill to the folks by the fort, knots of combat forming all along the way. It's a good rush, nothing like zipping backwards downhill nailing Quadav fights with debuffs as you go and kiting your own. A good Ranger or BST helps if they call the waves with Wide Scan, and if they spawn on the near side of the fort, you can usually drag them along the base of the hill and avoid NPC's unless you want the help.

Is it really that hard to be a team player and show some support for the community? Or do you all have your heads too far up your own asses? I was frequently disgusted by the fact that people basically ignored my shouts for a campaign battle party whenever I came along, especially on BRD!

You'd think all the e-peen people who want to melee would want to be buffed so they can earn more points by performing better but no... people are just that stupid.

Or maybe they were just in total shock at the sight of a BRD who didn't want an EXP invite.

I stick by my Campaign (and FFXI as whole really) motto; Be a team player, or GTFO.
The problem is that you are not rewarded in Campaign for being a team player. You are rewarded for meleeing. Most of the time my WHM gets half of the XP and a quarter of the Allied Notes as my WAR when he stays back and does what he is supposed to do- cure, enfeeble, haste, and raise. He gets as much XP and nearly as many Allied Notes when he whacks things with his club and occasionally cures. Don't blame people for trying to max out their points, blame the people who made the stupid rules.

I understand that perfectly. All I have to say is, if you want to melee on your WHM, you'd better find a tank (a real one that 'vokes and/or Flashes) or you'd better be able to solo. Leeching lolDDmages cost me XP/AN and gil when I'm trying to solo, so they can gtfo.

    Re: Retards and Campaign

You don't get a magic amount for meleeing, I learned this while just meleeing a lot.

Once I got /Dnc sub, I began tanking and soloing mobs, two or three waves, solo a mob in each, help finish off the stragglers, pow 3k Exp.

Do Damage (not just whiff), Take Damage (and live, preferably), Fix Damage (this means cure EVERYONE, it is in your best interests) and you will get a lot more exp than you would just standing there spanking a mob.

My meleeing is just a means to kill the mob and get TP, I actually ride defender usually, still hit harder than the mob does, but it makes it much easier to live.

I'm SPAMMING JA's constantly though, every time Curing Waltz II is up, I'm wailing on it, Im WSing at 200 Tp (Mbhuj), I'm voking things, and I'm getting beat on, taking thousands upon thousands of points of damage.

I have spent all of my MP curing anyone and everyone near me and rested to full multiple times during Campaigns and do not get nearly as much XP or AN as I did when slapping something with my stupid club. During a campaign today I raised 3 people and cast Haste on my WAR and got 40 XP and 20 Allied Notes. For 640 MP (alternated raise to get people up quickly) and great service to the community I got a whole 40 XP.

Sadly, the best way for a WHM to get XP seems to be to spam barspells. >_>

Spam Barspells, take hate, take damage, cure yourself, smack things?

I know when me and my friend were duoing Yags, me and his pet were tanking, so since we were both /Dnc, I told him to cure me if I was over a certain HP (850 I think) for a while, and he got much closer to the amount I got than when he just cured himself from incidental damage.

All mobs dead, people shouting to understand why the fight isin't over yet. One Quadav is being held by a Thf and his Drg friend quite a ways off. I drag it back to the tower so that people can kill it and have the damned thing over with and the drg starts freaking out on me and stating... that I can't solo mobs. I guess he failed to see the point and also forgot that soloing means not having a thf buddy along with you. Xie and Skywhacker are their names.

I avoided rollan for the rest of the evening cause I didn't want to deal with their BS.

Or you could have simply given their names to everyone in the zone and had them shunned like the pariahs they were.

Same sort of thing happened on Midgar. Mithra NIN (NIN/DNC I think) is always dragging one mob away to solo. She claimed that she never ever even once held up a campaign ending with her soloing... even though twice that I saw her mob was the last one that needed to be killed. We found her, killed it, Campaign ended.

Nope! You're not holding anyone up!

SE should add some code in that reduces your reward the further away from base that you are (and adjust the NPCs so that people don't have to hold the mobs away from them).

    Re: Retards and Campaign

I'm so glad someone made this thread

    - People who don't raise other people. This is somewhat SE's fault for not providing a greater reward for Raises, but regardless of the reward it's something that any decent person should do if they can. The XP/AN you lose out on by using 150 MP for a Raise instead of something else is pretty pathetic compared to the XP/AN that other person could gain in the time they spent laying there dead. I added the second or third name in two years to my blacklist over this, a WHM who ignored five dead people, and four of us were mages who could have raised the rest.
    - Red/White mages who refuse to cure. Other jobs are somewhat culpable as well (notably BLM and SMN), but RDM and WHM really should be watching out for their fellow man. I like meleeing in Campaign just as much as the next RDM, but that doesn't mean I can't tab over people fighting near me to make sure they're okay. The argument that you have to sacrifice your own rewards to be able to help out others is fallible, meleeing does not take MP, and I doubt taking a few minutes out here or there to /heal will really hurt your XP/AN. Now I'm not talking about being a backline mage, nor am I talking about main healing; if the current situation requires more healing than you can casually handle that's not your fault. If an idiot decided to solo Conquerer Bagkodek, that's not your fault. But if three of you are taking down a beastman together and the melee aren't /WHM to cure themselves, would it hurt to help your fellow man out?
    - People who won't pull a mob off of someone who catches aggro. Unless I'm /BLM, I really can't handle more than one mob at a time, would it kill you to pull one of the three I'm currently training instead of one that's attacking the Fortification? I'll be sure to Sleep II one of your mobs if it happens to you.
    - People who think it's funny to Poisonga my Sleepga'd Orcs. You are so goddamn lucky I have other people's actions filtered I might need to change that so I can know who to yell at next time.

Basically, "retards in campaign" can be translated to "selfish assholes." Campaign is not Besieged, people do not get elixirs every five minutes, we're going to need to work together a little more to succeed. I've seen some really beautiful teamwork in Campaign, people who never met before doing what needs to get done and helping each other out, but there are definitely people who couldn't care less for their follow PC, and those are the people who belong in this thread.

I once saved this PLD from two additional links and helped him fight his current monster/cure him while continually sleeping the links. It was going fine until at some point they started to interrupt me and I died. He made no attempt to cure me or help me. They then killed him with ease. dur

    Re: Retards and Campaign

Campaign was made as a casual way to mess around, have fun and get XP.
It's understandable why RDM's/WHM's don't want to baby-sit others during campaign, might as well just merit if thats what I wanted to do. If you can't solo decently then stop bitching about cures and get in a party.
