Textbook example of someone with nearly everything filtered (so he doesn't see anything but his own tankyness and doesn't get too much battle spam) fighting with blinders on. It's a common form of Campaign stupidity. No situational awareness.

A lot of people, faced with multitasking outside a PT....freeze up and get killed. Tanks tend to be worst, cause there's a mob in their face and they don't notice anything else except tanking like a mule until the mob drops or they do.

(Bonus tip: When forced to stand still and control multiple mobs, Bind the little buggers if you can, Gravity too. It's a lifesaver when you can haul ass and live long enough to cast uninterrupted.)

I don't know if even filters is a good excuse, I was right in front of him. He should have noticed two Yags beating the shit out of me as a continually attempted to cast a spell. It certainly didn't help I was fighting two MNKs.

It isn't as if people not raising others in uncommon in this game. Think of the /anon WHM/RDM/anyjobthatcanraisewithasubjob who runs by your dead/dying party (and I'm not saying one on a chocobo). Personally as a RDM I avoid group fights (people are stupid and the AN/XP sucks anyway), but I specifically take off the "damage recieved by monsters" filter so that I can see if someone is getting beat up on. I do make a point to ignore nubs who attack my mob, steal hate, and start getting themselves killed. I understand that the NIN or PLD tanking an NM may need a haste or a cure, but I refuse to help a DD who can't hold his own against a normal monster.

At least karma shoved that one right back in his face, but wow, what an idiot.

It's understandable why RDM's/WHM's don't want to baby-sit others during campaign, might as well just merit if thats what I wanted to do. If you can't solo decently then stop bitching about cures and get in a party.
I'm not talking about babysitting others, just helping out in general. That's why I said you don't have to main heal, but if you happen to be meleeing and you see someone getting beat up on, and you're a mage, throw them a cure or two. On the other hand, if they're taking so much damage that you'd have to cure bomb them to keep them alive, let them die, they took on more than they could handle. That's what I'm talking about.

The argument that you have to sacrifice your own rewards to be able to help out others is fallible, meleeing does not take MP, and I doubt taking a few minutes out here or there to /heal will really hurt your XP/AN. Now I'm not talking about being a backline mage, nor am I talking about main healing; if the current situation requires more healing than you can casually handle that's not your fault. If an idiot decided to solo Conquerer Bagkodek, that's not your fault. But if three of you are taking down a beastman together and the melee aren't /WHM to cure themselves, would it hurt to help your fellow man out?
When I am at Campaign my WHM barely has enough to keep my WAR cured, hasted, and breathing. Unless they give me a turbo-powered Refresh effect for Sigil there is no way I can be the guardian of the whole world.

Some mages try really really hard to get their campaign combat skill ups and just don't notice people getting beat up because their too busy waiting to see that god damned yellow text in vain.

Some melees try really really hard to solo crap they know they have no chance of beating and just don't notice mages purposely ignoring them while they wait for a cure in vain.

Well, the original post was supposed to refer to soloers mostly. If you're duoing or in a party, you're already supporting other people, which is fair enough.

I was a little harsh there anyway, but I stand by the Raising comment for sure. Curing is a little more iffy; keeping tabs on the HP of other people if they're not in a party/alliance with you is a little demanding. The post was really just meant to capture the idea of the random selfish idiot who would lose nothing by helping others but refuses to do so anyway, not someone who would have to sacrifice their XP/AN to help someone else.

    Re: Retards and Campaign

That's fine, I keep reraise up, spot the pixies if near the camp or ask a friend to cure.

Low man campaign is such a different world. Did north gusta the other day and some folk went straight for the nm blm attacking the tower. Naturally they got their asses handed to them but I loved seeing that blm straight out DD until pretty much everyone was dead. He was pretty much done for when the paladin died. Me and a few other folk were looking at this from the side while taking the lesser mobs attacking the tower.

    Re: Retards and Campaign

    Nothing irritates me more than the "Certain time of the day, Early US AM, a certain country's prime time" on Ragnarok. Why yes, I love standing there an additional 20 minutes because you want to solo your mob for maximum AN/EXP, but that's just at that certain time, w. -_-;

The rest of my complaints are just people in general. If I keep you from dying by pulling a mob (link or not) off you, you're a caster, then you melee the mob I saved your from and *I* die? You can be assured I will not raise you when you die. I can only magic fruit myself so much before my MP pool runs out, sorry. Thank god for reraise.

My worst complaint are the people who watch you die, THEN take the mob. I'm not talking about attempting to get it off you, cure you, provoke, anything. I mean, stand there, watch it beat on you, you die, then after a moment, engage and solo it. People's lack of cooperation in Campaign is the most frustrating thing to me.

It's easy to figure out why people just gang up on the one person tanking a mob, no one trusts each other, and the people that would help are so scarred by the experience they're scared too. -_-

    Re: Retards and Campaign

Yeah, Campaign seems to really separate the selfish jerks from the people who want to cooperate. On the upside, this means that you will run into people who make the experience a very pleasant one from time to time.

For example, I remember kiting an Orc in Battalia once where there were only three people including myself. Shock of shocks, the other two people actually pulled him off of me instead of pulling a fresh Orc for themselves, and we proceeded to take it down. Even better, we ended up pulling each Orc one by one until they were all dead. The feeling of taking down an entire regiment of Orcs with only three people, with not a single word spoken between us, was amazing. That kind of stuff is why I enjoy Campaign so much, even if there are plenty of idiots around.

    Re: Retards and Campaign

Don't begrudge us melee'ing mages too much :ashira: - remember we have nowhere else in game that we can do this for respectable xp. (Even RDM/NIN - I won't die but solo'ing mobs for xp? nfw).

Due to the low eva of campaign mobs a reasonably equipped mage can melee quite effectively and it is a crapton of fun compared to the rest of the way we spend our days. I've come to campaign on my nin, but i prefer to come whm/nin since I can debuff/cure/haste/rr/status/skin myself and, yes, i can solo the non-NM mobs if needed. And if you're not voking there's a good chance I'm going to pull hate after a hexa or two.

Sure I'll raise you, I can do that. Will I stand back and tab around to see who needs a cure? Not too often. If you stepped in to help me with something i'm solo'ing do you get a buff and a haste and be kept alive? Yup.

But this is not a party, the rules are not the same out here. I'm not here to keep you fluffed. You want a personal healer then go with your friends.

Which is quite sad, for the most part a party works and cooperates togheter to get things done fast. Campaing seems like headless chickens most of the time. People "meeling" a mob, while 15 hit a fortification.

People that engages the NM, that usually is ahead of the pack, and then proceeds to get raped by adds; because mages/other vokers are too busy dying to aforementioned NM AoE moves, instead of controlling traffic.

So yeah, instead of 20 minutes Campaings, you get 40 minute ones. (Yet people calls them epic fights.)

    Re: Retards and Campaign

One wave lasting forever because of people dying= fail.

6 People in Garlaige when Kazan > Moo > Vee > Shadowhand > Zee (?? the smn without the spear) > Shadowhorn decide to stop by, often two or three at a time= epic.

I keep getting Paladins who run up to me while I'm killing something happily by myself, and just start spamming me with their joyeuse, and their little mage friend.

Dear Tanks, I don't want to tank for you, the more people spamming me with Tp and not assisting with cures, the harder it gets. GTFO and find your own mob, I'm doing fine, thanks.

Quickstep > Desperate Flourish as I hit my run gear macro, and go find a new mob.

Had a nice surprise though, fighting a mob in a room alone, it turns purple to my dismay... then this cute little taru F bard pops up, starts tapping the thing with her staff, and debuffs it to hell. I invite to party, get double marched, I cure them, they cure me, we just silently kick ass together. Mob dies, they thank me, I thank them, and we disband and go our seperate ways.

Hey, I'm a meleeing mage myself It's the people who won't lift a finger to work together that get to me, whether they're meleeing or nuking or whatever else.

    Re: Retards and Campaign

Yeah, kind of turned into a loner lately in Campaign, its just so much easier to deal with a mob when it's just me and my /Dnc+Rajas ring subtle blow giving it TP.

Figure I can take a mob, keep it from beating on the fort, and kill it reasonably quickly. Probably not going to be significantly more useful to the battle if I'm just pure DDing, especially if I'm not subbing something to take care of myself.

That is one thing that some of the people who pull mobs to the side are thinking, it's easier to handle a lot of them solo with just your TP being fed back at you, than 4 or 14 people whacking it so the mob just spams TP til you die.

Though, doing that when there are 40 people, definitely a dick move.

You want to pull shit aside and solo it? Dungeon areas are out of the way, takes a little longer to get too, and it's not convenient to jump around from battle to battle.

Rarely more than a handful of people there, so free reign to go do whatever you want and drag a single fight out if you please.

See, that's the problem I have turned into a melee mage myself, but I actually sleep/pull mobs hitting the fortification, not just go feed TP to mobs already with 20+ people on them, but is rare to see people pulling mobs off fortifications.

I had that yesterday, sitting there killing a mob after passing a Nin/Whm soloing one.

I go get another, pull it back, then the Ninja shows up and starts hitting the one I'm fighting, with several left on the Fortification.

People are made of fucking fail.

It's either "LOL get your own mob!", or "LOL no one helps me" I don't get the QQ shit, how about you just keep each other alive and stop worrying about someone else getting in on your mob?
