Oh, I recognize it isn't my mob, but I also don't have to sit and waste my time getting killed and hoping someone tosses me a raise, when I can just go find another mob and kill it by myself easily enough.

I left what could have been a great Campaign battle last night because of retards who can't seem to figure out how this should work. Was so nice to get raised by a PLD who seemed to be doing everything (meleeing, random cures, raising people, and standing around in his Askar body and Wlegs looking like a douche) but acting like he knew what his job was for. I'm sorry but if you are a tank job, it doesn't matter if you are in Campaign or not ... you are still a tank. Don't fucking raise me and don't fake like you can DD anything. Go help the other people who are getting ass raped by a 3 wave double NM (each wave) battle. Not like I can get up safely with One-Eyed frolicking about AoE-ing the piss out of things.
I feel better now. Thank you BG.![]()

That's because War/Dnc can kill most non-NMs in campaign solo. Stuff like BLM and SCH (ie the jobs I go to Campaign on) really can't.. at all. I die horribly when I take hate unless it's a rng or something, and even then they come to melee at 50% or so. Some jobs can't take hits and I find myself waiting for people to tank them at times.Originally Posted by Max™

And I've been tanking peon mobs on my SAM since LV63, but yeah, not something easily done by a BLM. However, getting off sleeps on a wave running in and such, and resleeping and then even dying when they wake again gives a nice exp bonus boost.
WHM/NIN and RDM are the super secret awesome tank/close range melee for Jagidbod's Warmachine. Shell IV/V, Barfire (esp with merits+Bar/enhancing gear), and of course Stoneskin/Phalanx/Blinks and he can't do more than like, 300 dmg at a time with Blastbomb or anything. I ate every single TP move he did in one campaign on WHM/NIN, it was so fun. :D When I go WHM, I definitely step up when he comes around; otherwise I continue to melee but am usually also tabbing around with my Cure III <stpc> macro trying to find people whose HP is low.
To this day, I find campaign players that think that aggroed on fort monsters will link when one is pulled.
Cue RDM/BLM me Sleepga'ing a trio of Yagudo BLM's, Silence/Bio wakeup call on one, back up a bit, beat on it while the other two sit there....wake up....run forward, get Sleepga again...
After doing it twice, the 4 other people (including an RDM in full Duelist's and a PLD in mixed AF/Dynamis armor) get a "clue"and start beating up on one of the slept ones, then kill my tanked one, then go whack the third one while I find the next group. And they sit there again, while I pull them out one at a time, then go kite Pious around for lulz as the Mithra defense warps in and pincushions him.
Random tell from PLD: {Fishing} {Yagudo} ?
/facepalm
And gawd yes, MDF+ resist tanking FTW for things like Warmachine or Pious or anything else that likes tossing AoE magic damage. I was embarassed when the frickin Duelist's geared RDM DIED from an Aeroga III that didn't even breach my Stoneskin....and neither of us was tanking. NIN shadows > all there, lulz.
I don't see why it is another player's responsibility to keep you alive because you stole hate on the mob they were fighting. If you can't take and you plan to leech of other's mobs, then learn to moderate your hate quotient. It's like in an xp pt, if you steal hate too much then you die. I certainly don't plan on burning all of my mp on you just so you can get easy points.Originally Posted by Kimkytaru
As far as tanking non-NM mobs, I don't see what the problem is. If I can solo them half naked on rdm without buffs, then I see no reason why a decently equipped member of almost any job could solo one for at least a decent amount of time. Even if you can only take it down to 50% before you die, soloing/tanking a mob gets you tons of points to make up for the death. Also, generally you will get help way before you can fight a mob that long, at least I do. The name of the game is to either learn to be self-sufficient, or to learn to be helpful without being a lazy ass burden.
