I see... So the reason I don't want to die is because I'm "scared" to, not because I'm next to useless while weakened?Originally Posted by Shabazz

I die in Campaign all the time. I am not "scared" of it. However, it is in everyone's best interest that I remain un-weakened if possible. A weakened DRK is good for little other than dying again.
When I do campaign, I try to tank mobs until I am out of MP. If I die, I will only fight mobs that already have hate on someone else. I am a 72 Elvaan PLD.Originally Posted by Wizerd
Reading this thread makes me so happy that I have a second character with WAM and BRD leveled up- Mr. WAR gets to go stabbity while getting a steady stream of reliable cures and hastes. The only thing that really holds me back is when Atum has to rest of MP after particularly tough mobs. (Gnats come to mind. >_<)
You make Altana cry when you do this. Stop it. Do you melee mobs in exp PT's? Tell me you don't.Originally Posted by Gynin
As a BRD, this is what you do- aside from not soloing.
Find a mob that's being fought. Debuff it. They'll stick and they help. It'll usually buff itself so that even if you do nothing else, your Finale will bite into a buff every time you can sing it. If you really feel bold, pick a mob and kite it with Lullaby breaks and /WHM for Stoneskin, or /RDM if you think you can stick Gravity. Buff yourself any time you're not nailing a mob with something, buffs = xp/AN. And don't solo. The more people you buff/help, the better your points at the end. If you think you're going to die for sure, Horde Lullaby + Mazurka and run like hell, reraise, get back into it with aggro cleared.
Nms are no issue to tank as pld/rdm on full def equipment and phalanx, they mostly hit for 0 or for max 10 dmg, ecxeptions are bagodek, deathlord rojgnoj and the warmachine. They are an issue and hit hard compared to the rest pussy NMs. I actually leave deathlord rojnoj allways up for a nin to tank or someone that is /nin, because he one shoted me twice with a 1400 crit hit.... with phalanx full könig and d.ring, god i fucking hate him. and the warmachine well, if you dont have shellra V and some barfira you are pritty much screwed
never gonna touch them again, because literally you need a healer on your side to survive them, but noone is willing to heal you so yeah... I leave theese 3 alone
This is why I always try to PT in Campaign. Solo, you are good. With a duo/trio for backup, the result is a hit squad that can win, win, win and stay up the entire time doing so as long as the puller is smart.Originally Posted by Damane
Wow. And that, Shabazz, is a big part of the reason why I don't jump on an unclaimed NM. Why use the wrong tool for the job? Even the smaller orc NMs do major damage to me, so why are you so eager to toss any and all jobs at unclaimed NMs?Originally Posted by Damane
Please note I'm not complaining about the damage I take -- it's the trade off for dealing good damage. However you have to be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of your job and play accordingly.
Hell, I love the damage I take, it's where my Exp comes from, War/Dnc powah!
As for NM's, I usually let the mobs go past, "aggro" the Fortification, and then pull them off for me and my little group of people to defeat one at a time til reinforcements show up, be the NPC's or other players.
worst is when you're sleep/nuking a mob, and some random idiot blu comes from nowhere and starts meleeing when the mob's @ 60% and he can't pull hate back.
So I died, and the blu wasnt even lvl 65 so he died right after. Go him.

I'll take on a mob solo/duo NP don;t need your /melee/ help.. i can kill most campaign mobs by myself.
Both my RDM and BLU can solo in campaign with ease. and NO i won't cure you.. get /dnc to 37 and cure yourself in campaign if you're gonna keep dying.
I'd believe it. I was duoing with a taru RDM this afternoon (never an NPC when you need one!) and he was kicking ass. He could have easily soloed without me, I felt bad for "leeching" off him (letting him tank much of the fight, turning away from the mob when I had to, etc).Originally Posted by nekoshoonen
Unfortunately I got disconnected after thirty minutes of that so... zero reward! >< Wish SE would be able to fix that somehow.
I noted as pld/rdm, I wouldnt tank them on war/nin without healing support, because I would literally be down fast, because of all the tp moves.Originally Posted by ThistleChaser
Nah, i gotta call out on that one. DRK/WHM is damn near indestructable in Campaign. I can easily solo lesser beastmen mobs, especially since they're all Aspir'able and don't resist Dread Spikes/Stun like Besieged mobs. Absorb-AGI can practically negate Orcish Counterstance, Quadavs hit like little girls, and Yags take absurd amounts of damage. Even Moonfang Warriors don't hit that hard.Originally Posted by ThistleChaser
On DRK/WHM i usually find myself throwing up Dread Spikes, Diaga'ing a pack of mobs beating on a tower, and just kiting until people are ready to kill them. You can easily do this while weakened and not be at real risk unless you catch someone like One-Eyed @ Vunkerl. On Batillia Downs you can kite in a circle indefinitly because of their retarded pathing.
I duo/trio usually with my friends that do also regularly campaign, one comes as rdm/blu with full crimson gear and the other is whm. We can literally hold a wave of mobs ourself, the fun starts when 2 waves come into play :D . its basicly a 2x tank + healer/buffer setup. my rdm/blu friend gets hit for 0 dmg too, but he has the same issues as me on deathlord, one shoted... warmachine and bagodek are no problem with this setup tough.Originally Posted by Kyreth
If you can Gravity Deathlord and hold aggro, it's a nuke-till-he-glows-while-dragging-through-NPC's funfest. You've got more than enough recovery to deal with anything he tosses in kite mode. I do believe he's reasonably stunnable, too...so if Gravity wears early, you should be able to Stun/Headbutt (Repose/Sleep if no DoT's are on him, good luck on that unless you can get him coming in).Originally Posted by Damane
That's fine, as long as you aren't sleep/nukega'ing more than one mob, and that when your mob inevitably is last to die you stand there and get beat into the ground with a smile on your face as the melees finish it off. I swear to god, if I see one more BLM kite a mob from 20 melees because "i can't stop or i'll die" I'm gonna kill a puppy. Grow a pair of tiny pre-pubescent balls, you pussies. You could have died, reraised, wiped hate and nuked for another couple hundred points safely in the time you wasted kiting a pack of players.Originally Posted by Mytiwar
OK. Don't "solo" the mob I'm already soloing then, like every single RDM/NIN I've seen in Campaign since I got the expansion. And ffs if you're not going to cure me, at least raise me if I die.Originally Posted by Nekoshoonan
Oh, I'll fully agree with you on the first part -- I can solo/tank non-NMs just fine. But I have to disagree about the weakened part, though part of that might be my style. I try to never drop below 150 MP (cost of RR) so that if I die I can recast RR again right away (reduce chances of ever being left behind dead while everyone warps off to the next fight). While weakened, with three MP merits, I have 158 MP. So basically, while weakened, I cast nothing. That makes staying alive a little more challenging.Originally Posted by Kkel
QFT, you may be able to kill most of the mobs solo, but you cant solo them all.. So help out those around you.Originally Posted by Nekio
For the record, I keep RR items so I dont really "need" mages to raise me, but it still bothers me those who take the attitude of not wanting to to help out others.
