Kinda touching more on the "melee mage" aspect in campaign..

Personally when I go WHM (68), I bring a club and DD gear. Throw up buffs / reraise on myself then start whacking a claimed mob. But the whole time I am doing this I look for people to cure. People to raise. Mobs to flash. And yes, if I run low/out of mp, I rest. The same goes if I go RDM (meh) or BLM (nooo buffer). Well, minus the flash part.

I will agree that nothing sucks more than to be lying there dead or with 50 HP while a mage is whacking the mob with a spoon. Which is why I don't do it. You can play both healer and melee roles, so there's no reason not to.


As for the "NM vs NQ pull debate".. I tend to leave the NM for last if I am pulling. Being able to sleep the NQs means crap if NPCs or players wake them up 5 seconds later. NMs are more dangerous to the players. Fortifications last longer.

I'm on the verge of making a macro to send tells to mages I see following me around as I tank things.

Pure genius, SE makes an event that you can pick up practically at any time and your solution is to cockblock jobs incapable of soloing mobs in to finding a party before heading to Campaign. Genius I say.

Personally, I go to Campaign as WAR/WHM since I can't rely on anyone to heal/raise me if I go /NIN. I'm sorry if I'm disturbing your soloing but things die faster when people are alive.

Wow other servers must have a sucky campaign community. On asura you get curebombed the moment your HP dips significantly and someone notices. Sure we have our melee mages who raise nobody, but nobody ends up raising those guys either.

So much more fun if I solo on pld: the mob lasts longer, yet spams less tp on me, I have less lag, which means I can actually tell when I'm supposed to properly time my cure (not good on my PC to fight in a crowd of 10 mobs and 30 people, with 20 NPCs running around), and I can all but max my 2.5k points out in a single quad fight, given that I go through about 1,200mp worth of cure 4s, and about 20,000 worth of damage dealt to the quad.

I don't mind working in small packs, but I can't stand every person in the zone wailing on a single quad that I pulled, especially if there are other tanks in the mix, lagging me up, getting me killed, and not curing me -- then when I die, they all die because they run around like chickens with their heads cut off, wondering why the main tank died with absolutely no assistance, yet 20 times more tp being fed to the mob.

It's perfectly understandable mages want to melee, and don't want to just be running around spamming cures and raises left and right, however, you should at least be willing to cure the person(s) tanking the mob you are fighting if they need it imo.

Its also annoying when people send you /tells asking why you're pulling a mob away. Ummm yea... I really want to fight an orc next to 5 other orcs that are being fought.

The JPs are the ones who cure here, the NAs like to whack away and melee.

Oh I also noticed, if any of you see PUP with WHM head attachment in campaign seeking, and you are a melee, GET THEM. The puppet will keep you alive without much effort from the master. Both sides will be grateful I invite whm hat pups anytime I see them in campaign, flag on or not, then I make them travel with me between campaigns, they're really good

Yeah yeah, the JP here are pretty decent here on Cerb. The weird behavior is pretty split between JP and NA, Id estimate. I just like taking jabs at JP players cause they do the darndest things!

Aren't osode/fuma good for situations where you'd be tanking like campaign? Unless you're talking about jp mnks as a whole not just campaign...

Aren't osode/fuma good for situations where you'd be tanking like campaign? Unless you're talking about jp mnks as a whole not just campaign...

I'm talking as a whole.
but even for for campaign, imo, I find the RSE body to be better than osode because of the subtle blow+3 and eva+12 (agi included in total evasion+). As for fuma, utsu macro.

When you tank in Campaign you use DD gears. <_< The mobs don't hit hard. And lolosode on MNK, ever. (except Chi Blast)

Some of the mobs hit harder then holy hell, one of them hits harder than anything I've seen in the game.

Osode is also good on dragon kick, howling fist, and ballista.
