This is most likely something they had planned to release in an effort to reduce support costs and, in their mind, improve Customer Service. I would NOT assume this is in response to the recent hacks that have taken place. Their survery deadline is not far off, we can only hope that substantive Security and Support changes come from that process. I personally, won't be logging in to this site for anything though.
They said they plan to allow changing of payment method and such soon.Originally Posted by spooky

But seriously, this is lame -_-;
Let's all just get RMT's email and send our POL ID's and passwords to them... /sarcasm off

And people need to calm down. WoW's account info etc, is all on their website too. You click inside the game window and you are sent to the website. It's not that unusual. ._.
For some players it has a positive side, if they unlock change of membership information. I for example own an EU and an US account. If my CC expires I don't have to install US POL anymore![]()
Whats next?
LOL, The RMT will soon just change the info from there and you'll really have NO way of saving yourself.The site is currently limited to viewing specific account data, but in the future, more features will be added and users will be able to purchase Content IDs or change payment methods.
AWESOME JOB SQUARE-ENIX~
Not sure Taj doing it makes us any more safe. I like it on Pandemonium.Originally Posted by TeancumMemsochet
Quit your bitching, seriously. As it's been said, a system like this is in place for WoW and seems to work just fine for them. And if they could kick you off before and have your password and account info changed 5 seconds later this won't be any worse, as if this was even a response to the customer survey which is still underway in the first place.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos

Anyways, I think this was put in place, mostly, to combat account thiefs in the weekend. Most acct thiefs happen in the weekend when the POL Customer Service line is off for the weekend. With this in place, it might those "incidents" by a lot.
So because WoW has it makes it awesome? WoW is chock fulla security issues and this (maybe not now, but when its fully operational) just makes it easier for RMT to change your info when your logged in and not even kick you off until whenever they choose to.Quit your bitching, seriously. There was nothing wrong with changing your info via the viewer to begin with. Customer Survey, heh - we'll see that actually put to some use next year in March if we're lucky.

Hopefully the customer service survey coupled with all the recent hackings will give SE the hint they need better security. At the very least when the open up the website to allow changing of information they could incorporate the "safe questions" and everything else that people have been asking for. Since on POL you can battle them to keep your account and on the website you can't, I'd hope that'd add that much extra security measures to prevent something as stupid as log in with no other type of verification.
if it's anything like the Linkshell Beta crap you won't be able to log into it if you are logged into your FFXI character.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos
Since when did it matter what other people think about him? It's so pathetic how sheep like people on this forum are, especially when one day everyone was head over heels for him, next day they extradite him, then they are all cool with him a week later because someone decided they liked him again but said it on the boards.Originally Posted by kuronosan
