Also, "It's a Wonderful World", whose name is changed to "The World Ends with You" for NA/EU release, is Spring 2008. Designed By Nomura, its a stylus/Dual Screen heavy action RPG. And yes, expect lots of belts and zippers.
For me its a toss up between VI and IX. VII was my first, but I don't feel compelled to get far in it when I go back and replay it.
Subarashiki Kono Sekai? Not as many belts and zippers as you'd expect, but you do have copypasta of Squall for the main character.Originally Posted by Gobo

it's also my birthday on the 18th ^^b
whats up with all the VII vs VI and xenogears vs xenosaga bs? Other than the fact they share the same game title, the games themselves had very little in common, so im not sure what it is that always makes people feel so compelled to defend and compare them.
and what?... no <3 for Chrono Cross? Its definitely not trigger but it wasn't a bad game..
All this looking back makes me feel a bit emo nothing ''great'' has come out in awhile in terms of single player rpgs..
Quite frankly, I would have enjoyed Chrono Cross more if you didn't end up recruiting everyone in the world to your party.
They'd actually be the worst (in this context best) villains to encounter as a protagonist. It means they're beyond reason, and in the end its simply your life or theirs.Originally Posted by Daimen-G
I personally enjoyed FF12 though, since the main "villains" weren't actually all that evil and actually quite justified in what they were trying to accomplish.

Shit, I'm really out of it aren't I?
FF6 was cool, dug that Kefka won, he may not have ended the world, but he won, he beat us, and the rest of the game is recovering from that loss and trying to set up a rematch.
Upside, lots of characters was fun, bunch of variety between them, using the Espers to get the magic and whatnot was sweet.
Downside, man some of it was broken as hell, especially when you can go out to the Dino Forest, Vanish/Doom shit for multiple levels at a time and powerlevel yourself to godhood easier than any other FF I've played to date. Was fun though, Genji Glove Atma-ing shit to death.
FF7 is quite overhyped, yes it was awesome the first couple of times through it, then you step back and look at some of the things and they're a little ridiculous, but man seph's sword rocked.
I hated Squall, which totally ruined FF8 for me, I tried to get into it, but god I hated that kid, FF9 was a good apology, enjoyed it a lot, particularly Vivi's "I'm just a killing machine?" storyline. FF10 had some of the most frustrating bullshit I've ever encountered in a game.

Chocobo Stories for DS should be in the list. I played it a bit, was alright, but lost interest fairly fast. Still, for the accuracy of the historical record, etc.
Edit: Oh, maybe I missed it but didn't see FF: Spirits Within listed. There was also a miniseries anime based off FF5, and then the FFU series, and of course, Advent Children.
Agreed. Although my favorite is FFIX, and would pay good money to see a remake of it as well as VII for ps3 =pOriginally Posted by Xavier
Thanks Square.
My girlfriend liked Chocobo Tales, some of the minigames were quite fun for me too, and challenging as shit, the Malboro Menace one was a favorite.Originally Posted by Alistaire
I'd rather see of remake of FFVIII than any other of the PS1 FF. I think don't that game gets near enough credit.
Could they un-retard the magic acquiring system in the remake?Originally Posted by TacoTaru
I never had any problems keeping magic, or obtaining it for that matter. Not to mention the island that let you draw the strongest magic that respawned every minute or so and made for leveling up characters stupid easy.
I rather liked the Draw system, if I'm honest. You could fight Odin and draw 3 sets of 100 Triple.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane

You know that translates to retarded right?Originally Posted by Murataki
"Retarded" and "fun" aren't mutually exclusive.Originally Posted by Alistaire
Still, it doesn't matter. Even without the broken Junction system, the difficulty level hovered somewhere in the neighborhood of "Impossible to lose"
Triple was better off junctioned to Speed. With SPD+% and 100 triples on speed, your turn would be up as soon as your attack animation was finished >_>
Didn't really matter, since one set of combat rounds would end virtually any encounter if you junctioned it to STR.Originally Posted by Daimen-G
