it would be a better show than a movie tbh
Saw the trailer... nerdgasm! Day 1!
All the creation stuff with Eru/Iluvatar would be pretty badass for a season premiere. I'd totally subscribe to HBO if they did it.
Why is Galadriel in this? Am I just forgetting something in the book? I'm pretty sure she wasn't there. Why am I absolutely terrified Jackson is going to cut something cool in order to make room for a weird romance between Gandalf and Galadriel?
Either way, still looks like it'll be an OK adaptation, just like the movies. Gonna see the shit out of it.
2 movies for a 250 page book, can't imagine he cut anything this time
Gotta make room for those extended edition dvd/blu rays.
Please god tell me he's trolling...
i hope so
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he was serious. Playing LOTRO you'd be amazed at the number of people that simply have no clue that the LOTR movies were even based off books never mind that there were more than just three of them.
Looks really good. It does look much darker though then I remember the book being. I don't recall any talk of Bilbo not coming back alive, etc. The trailer does give me hope that there will be more singing this time around then compared to the LOTR movies. I always felt there wasn't enough.
Also, they better throw in mother fuckin' Tom Bombadil this time for shits and giggles. They totally cock blocked me on that one in LOTRs.
so im a heathen and never read the books. would i be better off starting with the hobbit, i assume, then the trilogy?
Hobbit was written for kids. Much easier read. It leads to the events of LOTR, so, chronologically, it makes sense to read this first.
LOTR was written for Tolkien himself. It's a harder read, but rich in detail and history. I read them once and didn't think they were that great.
Yes, it's a quick read since it's written differently than the other 3.
