Newer G15 Keyboard + FFXI issue

Don't be foolish like me, and purchase the newer model, because it doesn't actually work with the G15Binder. They're both called G15 Keyboard, no version/model # difference, I just tell them apart like so >_>:

Older Model = Blue.
Newer Model = Orange.

Spent quiet a few hours looking things up, asking around for help, general consensus seems to be "Sorry, you got screwed ._." So I figured i'd share this with anyone looking to get a G15 Keyboard to use for easier macros/PLing themselves with a 2nd character, or whatever.

If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it, just wanted to warn anyone else to not waste $$$ on the new one like I did, unless someone modifies the current G15Binder to work with the newer keyboard.

Yeah, I figured this might be an issue around this time of year with people around here ;/ I only got it because it was on sale, but I could easily imagine people getting one around Xmas.

The G11 keyboard seems to be the same as their old G15, just minus the LCD screen. I am pretty sure it works with binder too.

Yeah, the G11 works with the G15Binder. But the new G15 Keyboard doesn't seem to. Found one or two posts with other people who have the recent KB who also have the same issues as me with it. I'm thinking maybe it's the keyboard's ID that's different, so when the Binder looks for it, it's not finding a G11/G15 accepted ID, even though the new one is definetly a G15 :/

A much smarter than I friend told me how to find the newer G15 keyboard's Device ID, and replaced the oldder model's ID with the newer one, and tada, it's basically working.

So far, the only issue is that some of the alias don't work quiet right, as the newer model's M1G3 doesn't respond to M1G3, but does respond to like M1G11+. I'll look more into it later.

The new ones are crap anyway... they only have what, 6 G keys? Old blue ones have 18x3.

New ones have toggle keys that give you the same number of macros, I believe.

The new one is smaller, aside from that and the visual difference, i'm not sure what's different between the two.

The older blue one had the 18 keys + 3 macro palettes for a total of 54 possible macro keys.

The newer orange one has 6 keys + 3 macro palettes for a total of 18 possible macro keys.

For what it matters, I really don't need more than the 6, just Cure III/Hastes and a /follow macro from my 2nd character to use while PLing myself. I'll probably make other sets to use with my main character, but I find it fairly nice, but i'm really used to my current macro positions. I guess if you use it more for your main job, having the 18 and just hovering your hand over it would be easier than the in game Alt-# and Ctrl-# keys.

Regardless, i'm just happy I got the G15 Binder working with it, so if other's have the same issue, it's resolved, since this is now the "easier" model to find, and there's no official update to be found yet, and hopefully a search here will help.

Me again :/ New issue, posting this here too in case anyone can help.

While I got the newer (orange model) G-15 Keyboard to recognize the G15Binder.dll, the G-Key/Alias mapping is all screwed. I performed a test, and the end results were, on the newer (orange model):

All other G-Keys don't match up with any of the aliases.

How I tested it:

I used CrookedH's G15test.txt found in http://www.windower.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11113, then proceeded to hit all G-Keys on M1/M2/M3 pallettes.

I did find one anamoly I could not reproduce, before attempting this test: At one point I switched from M1->M2 palettes, maybe I pressed 2 buttons at once by mistake, but this triggered the M2G2 alias, which I couldn't repeat when I tried after.

Any advice on redefining the aliases somehow, to match up with the current orange model?

As long as you're here testing the new 'board, I'll go ahead and ask, have you had any luck getting ffxi information to display on the screen? The plugin for it on windower forums appears to be dead from what i can tell

I would love for the status thingy plugin to work again (that displayed your exp ect), but I'm happy enough with just the G15binder plugin.

I haven't upgraded to 3.3 yet (not planning to unless 3.26 breaks)

For instance if I hit my Ni macro, sometimes it would be like I hit space bar and the more I try to use it it just fills with the same number and the macro not going off.

Anyone else ever have that issue with it?

That's why I don't use it for FFXI macros. It was way too unreliable. The more you lag the worse it gets. Instead I used it to input directly into the ffxi console. Works for anything without a equip change, though I could set that up too (with little effort)

ie : One of my DNC leveling macros was

/ja Boost <me>
<insert delay 2.5 seconds)
/ws Combo <t>


The only caveat is that Shift or CapsLock will mess up the macro >.> but I've never had a problem. I use it mostly for lag free macros, like Utsusemi or Cures that require accurate timing or people die.

Just use G15binder then youll never have that problem

Yeah, basically I just gave him some new info from the newer model KB, and he said he knew what was up, and it wouldn't be difficult to fix, a few hours at most or something, i'll post in here when a fixed/patched/new Binder is posted.
