    Worst Albums of 2007?

Well we had a thread on favorite albums of this year, and now there's a really sorry thread about Rolling Stone's "Top 100".. this seemed like the next logical step.

What albums do you think were completely worthless this year.. I'm talkin' like as worthless as Limp Bizkit's "The Unquestionable Truth Part 1" was a couple years ago. Albums that there was serious buzz about that turned out to be junk.

Here's one : Smashing Pumpkins "Zeitgeist". So disappointing... and I'm a huge fan of theirs from back in the 90s (first two CDs I bought with my own money were "Siamese Dream" and Pearl Jam's "Ten", just to give you an idea) so to hear a CD as crappy as this one was pissed me off.

I'm right behind ya with Zeitgeist. In my first listen, I thought it sounded like good old pumpkins. Then I listened to it again...and again...and I realized what a travesty it was, and instantly went back and listened through the rest of their albums to remind me of what "good" pumpkins sound like. That was actually the only album this year, which I bought, that I was disappointed with.

Pumpkins lost it completely, they will never even come close to what I believe was their last good album with Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, dunno what happened to them, but everything they put out since then is complete trash, can't even listen to it :<

Haven't listened to it and don't plan to, but from his one single alone, Soulja Boy HAS to be the number one worst album of this year.

Probly a more interesting progression would be albums you're looking foreward to in 2008, considering.

Obviously most of us avoid hearing what would actually be the worst albums this year, if I had to pick a most disapointing, it's pretty easy for me, I was really looking forward to Jason Isreal's debut album, because the 'single' Dress Blues was really really awsome, and I saw him open for Son Volt and thought his new band sounded pretty good, but it turned out to be pretty mediocre.

I'd say one is the new Linkin Park album.. whatever the fuck that was called. One good song and the rest were awful.

As far as I'm concerned the new Foo Fighters album is a swing and a miss. It's okay... But only okay and I've come to expect better from them. By far the most disappointing album this year was Rilo Kiley's Under the Blacklight which was largely praised by critics everywhere but is completely devoid of any of the qualities that got me listening to the band in the first place. By making a decent pop album that everyone can embrace they sacrificed the quirks that endeared them to me in the first place.

I rather enjoy the new one, compared with SYOTOS anyway... Also Linkin Park's was just horrible! Definately the worst of 07

listened to it once, havent picked it up since

i've been loving Royksopp too much but ya, pumpkins glory days ended quietly with Adore (underappreciated imo) And Machina I was good enough but their internet album was so terrible, I honeslty cant remember a single song off Zeitgeist (I dont listen to the radio so i dont even know what the single was)

I think the copy I got of it is screwed up. The volume quality on it is complete shit. It'll go from being normal volume to barely being able to hear it. As such, I haven't even listened to the entire CD yet because of it.

I agree with Linkin Park being on this list as well. Although it was funny when a local radio station got the the point of making fun of "Bleed it Out" when they'd play it. I think they said they counted 17 (or 19) "Bleed it out"s in the song.

The new Jimmy Eat World album just flat out sucks, and I hate to say it because their 'Futures' album is one of my favorite of all time. I don't really even like the band that much, but that one album is pretty much perfect, and then they released their new cd, which is utter crap. Oooo well.

Zeitgeist/ New Zwan Pumpkins were doomed from the start when Billy went without D'arcy & James Iha

but my biggest disappointments would be NIN's YEAR ZERO & Radiohead's In Rainbows... both albums that had critics tripping over their boners over when they were completely steaming piles of crap.

D'Arcy and James had almost 0 input into the music making process prior to Adore (hell in alot of instances Corgan was rerecording everything they played on the albums himself).

I have to agree with Year Zero. I haven't really been in love with anything Trent Reznor has put out since the Fragile, to be honest. The live album was decent, but nothing impressive. The original material on Still was pretty good, but since the album was largely comprised of dressed-down versions of other songs, I wasn't exactly enraptured. I downloaded With Teeth to listen before I bought it, and after listening to the material, I decided not to even buy it. This is coming from someone who owns all the remix albums. A few people told me Year Zero was reminiscent of old school Nine Inch Nails, circa Broken. Imagine my surprise the first time I tried to listen to Year Zero all the way through. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever succeeded.
