Jin from Xenosaga. I have other characters that I liked, but none have really stood with me as strongly as he has. It probably has a lot to do with the last 10 minutes of Episode Three, but they were pretty powerful.

I always have hard time naming a favorite character. There is so many different reason why I like certain characters it's impossible to pick one. Some are funny or insane, other are sexy or badass, have strong emotional scene or awesome backstory. It's really hard to compare different type of character and pick one.

Etna in Disgaia
Balthier
Chrono (might be silent the whole time, but he was so badass back then with his spiky hair and katana)

I'd say Ep. 3 made a pretty good case for KOS-MOS, lots of emotional moments and her backstory was really fleshed out.

How can you not like a sexy robot that is kicking ass in awesome kung-fu scenes. Beside Dante in Devil May Cry, her battle choreographies were some of the best I've seen. I can't think of many fights that top the one against Telos.

On a more serious note, I always had a weak spot for character who are apparently emotionless (not evil, just completely detached), but still show their good side once in a while. The first "blue eyes" scene, the other with Momo on the Durandal and the one in the ending when she is about to sacrifice herself to save everyone did it for me. I'm not sure what I like so much about that, but those characters generally end up being my favorite. It was the same for Rei in evangelion.

Another thing I liked about Kos-mos was the religious symbolism revolving around her. We already knew (guessed it after overanalysing every bit of info) who she was, and it was adding a lot to her backstory

outside of RPG chars I really liked Dante from the DMC series (kind of an rpg, i guess) and the computer from Portal

Okay i'll give you KOSMOS... it's not like you said SHION or anything (seriously, can that VA DIAF prease? both of them actually, the EP1/3 one for sure, but the EP2 one was pretty damn annoying too.. >.>)

I actually liked Shion a lot in the first episode. The nerdy look was cute, and she was relatively nice to everyone (liked those scenes where she protect the realians). She was still self centered to some extent, but it wasn't unforgivable. Ep2 and ep3's Shion was ewwwwww. No more scene showing her good side, it was just bitching after bitching. Her character development wasn't unrealistic considering her mental disorder (ODM stated that) and heavy stress, but it was done in a way that make her look like a total pain in the ass.
