How hard is it for people to understand that having the capability to do something and actually being allowed to do it are two very different things? It's something that keeps coming up again and again in this thread, with people blaming the GM's. I used to work in a tech support call center and I had the capability to do all sorts of things to peoples accounts and their phone service, and I could look and see where an error occurred or where something needed to be fixed or where another employee screwed something up and I had the capability to fix it or make changes but by the companies policy I was not allowed to do it and the problem had to go through the proper channels. This is the same situation with the GM's. Yes, they could do a lot of things to these stolen accounts (or in your case getting locked out of an event) but any action has to go through the proper channels, and there are simply things they are not allowed to do. So he apologizes, tells you what he can do and when thats not acceptable and people get pissy with him he goes into script-mode.
Everyone rational understands SE's GMs have a playbook to go by and that means following protocol and procedures but there are so many situations where a GM has fucked up to the point of calling them for anything outside being trapped in a wall, ocean, dock is moot.
Someones position hacking in your face and as a GM you cant take immediate action? The game screws up and your at a loss and that cant be fixed? There also lots of times where the GMs dont understand the mechanics of the game they are policing and they do stupid shit like:
-Ban you for using a JA
-Force a tank to melee a monster for no reason?
-Make outlandish requests like 'start killing now or disengage'
-Feign Ignorance about POL policy to brush you off
I mean they are there to do something right?.... besides push macros and file fake reports i assume.
