What are some of your favorite pieces of classical music? Neo-Classical is fine too. I think Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini" is my favorite. Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings" is a close second though.

Hector Berlioz's fourth movement of Symphonie Fantastique, "March to the Scaffold".

More so a romantic piece but I figured by classical you're suggested renaissance, baroque, "classical," romantic, contemporary, etc.

Also a fan of Bach's fugues often presented on the organ.

Bernstein's Chichester Psalms are an amazing piece as well; and Poulenc's Gloria.

Elgar's Enigma Variations.

Pretty much the entirety of The Magic Flute, to me, is a work of art, God Bless Mozart.

Also, I have a particular arrangement of Bach's Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring that I can listen to repeatedly.

And Beethoven's 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th...

Yeah, ok, so I'm a classical music freak... I could keep going, really. ._.

But, probably, La Moldau is one of my absolute favorite things to listen to.

Same here unfortunately, except I'd have to add video game soundtracks in along with movie ones. Unfortunate because I actually think it is beautiful and enjoy it when I do hear it on occasion.

Carl Orff - Carmina Burana

this thing is at the end of liek every action movie/end of the world stuff (and also Busta Rhymes' 2nd album)

i saw Beaathoven's 9th performed with a choir of 200, raised the hairs on my neck, i love that piece (plus clockwork orange blabla)

and lastly (if this counts) i reeeeeeally like that Christmas song on the jazz piano from Charlie Brown by Vince Guaraldi

PS: If you liked Chopin, "take a look" at his Fantasie Impromptu. If you play the piano that piece is a real challenge.

Ave Maria - Schubert:
has been in my head the past few weeks after replaying some Hitman levels.

After watching The Illusionist, I got into to Phillip Glass. Though it's hard to describe him as classical, as a lot of his music can be interpreted as jazz (with classical instruments). Particularly the more ambient and noise based works (though I prefer the more "musical" pieces).

there will be blood's soundtrack (which i think just came out) is a really good classical movie soundtrack. composed by jonny greenwood of radiohead.

Chopin didn't even want that piece released. His friend had to betray his dying wish to burn that piece after his death.

Chopin's Nocturne in E Flat Major, Op.9, No.2

anything that Chopin does is amazing; he makes the piano sound like nothing I've heard before. Thsi one is one of my particular favorites.
