we don't, but at this point we'd try anything.

almost 100 runs and i think 6 drops at most.
Before we started making me go as THF instead of WHM or BRD, we never saw a drop. At all. Since I started going THF (TH3 for awhile, and now TH4) we're about 30~50% on drops. IMO adding TH (be it 1, 2, 3 or 4) made a marked difference.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of drops or runs when we started spamming floor 20, but I plan to when we start spamming 40 for pants (we still need so many Goliard and Askar feet though... )

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

Our group used to kill the Ramparts in our first few runs; it yielded no results. Ever since, we only pull the HNM and kill it. Our drop rate is about 40-50% ever since we brought a TH4. We need moar goliards then we can move to Floor 40

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

We always have at least /THF in the party, and we've done pretty well overall - we now have around 30+ pieces in total, plus a bunch of floor 100 weapons, with more to come. The drop rate isn't a problem, it's just that some items seem to defy the odds.

For example, we have around 5 pairs of Goli feet and 3 Askar feet, but only one Denali. On other floors, Askar legs seem to be rare for us, as are Goli bodies, but Goli legs and Askar bodies drop frequently. On the other hand, Goli hats seem very common, but we seem to have trouble getting the Zucchetto and Bonnet for our melee. Such is the roll of the dice in Nyzul Isle.

We are mostly doing floor 20 because we need boots.

Our record is 2/10 bosses (no rampart killing and no thf or /thf)

0/2 boss (killing rampart and with TH3)

Might want to start bringing THFs?

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

I've been doing Nyzul w/ nearly 95% of my tags since release. Have a perma of 8 that we cycle through. After completing 5 full sets: 2 Askar, 2 Goliard, 1 Denali and over 35 additional pieces spread throughout us and friends I can say that its pointless to do an HNM stage w/o the presence of a Thf w/ TH3+. Also the rampart has zero impact on whether you'll get a drop. At times when we've been pushing for a particular piece to complete a perma's set we've even had 2 TH4s. For almost all stages we've used the setup Brd/whm, Blm/whm, (Blm or Rdm/whm), War/nin (tank), Thf/nin, and a DD (Drg/whm, Mnk/nin, War/nin, Rng/nin). The only meds that we purchase from the chest are a Fanatics and Dusty Wing for each of the 3 melee.

Efficiency is a large part of Nyzul so each member of our party is required to provide their own sneak, invis, reraise (required at all times). For those still starting out consider investing in 2-3 powder boots for those who can equip them and don't already possess enhanced movement. Most of all communicate your actions. Our perma has worked together a long time so we have shorthand comments to help. Your primary puller should be informing people what mobs to avoid ahead and/or which side of a room to take to avoid the maze and shave some time off your run.

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

We TP on the rampart whenever we have time to do so (while mages are resting MP, for example, DDs have 0 TP, have 9 minutes on the clock for a Behemoth, then the THF will run out and get the rampart so DDs can open with Skillchain Light). If we don't have time, or the DDs don't need TP, we leave it alone.

Not having a THF with TH3 on these, you might as well just exit on floor 19, because you're just getting lightning crystals.

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

Having some trouble with my static lately, hopefully someone can give me a suggestion or two.

First off, my setup for non-HNM floors is BRD/WHM(Me), RDM/WHM, COR/RNG, DRK/SAM, DRK/SAM, SAM/???. I generally just have the Samurai go /NIN, because he doesn't seem like he feels confident that he can handle tanking as /WAR. Both of the Dark Knight's have Apocalypse, which works wonders for speeding up damage output, but doesn't really seem to help in the grand scheme of things. When we're farming an HNM floor, the Corsair goes Thief, for TH4. Being that I'm the most experienced Nyzul-goer in my static, I always take it upon myself to be the puller, and navigator in general, which I think I'm pretty good at.

Most of the time when we wipe to the point of no return, its because of something stupid; Self-Destruct, -Ga 3, Amorph Spikes(</3 Flan bosses), or Porrogo. And the only other time we really get set back to the point where we can't complete the run is because of an Activate all Lamps floor. When I find the first lamp and read, "Apparently these lamps need to be lit in a specific order".. I die a little bit inside.

Anywho, we're only now just starting to farm floor 20, and having loads of problems, and its really effective morale. If anyone has any suggestions, I won't take it for

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

My group started off pretty much the same way, it felt hopeless for awhile, but you just have to get in the swing of things and you'll be doing fine. There are still those occasional "are you fucking kidding me" floors where you get something ridiculous like specific type of enemies and get porogos and flayers in one run; or get restriction no white magic, but once you get in the swing of it you'll do fine. As someone else already said communication is very important, if you guys don't then it's gonna continue to feel like a lost cause. I make all the calls in my run: times to activate lamps, lamp orders, who should be staying at lamps, who should head back to the rune to warp us up asap, etc; and it's worked out well once I took over that job instead of everyone else throwing up ideas about what to do.

Something I've meant to post in here, possibly an update for bg-wiki info; out of 16-20floors has anyone 100% sure had "activate lamps in specific order." We had it for one of the three sets before, but on floors 16-20 we've NEVER had specific order lamps and we've gotten lamps every run we've done (even gotten twice a few times in one run) and it is always "at the same time." I can't for sure say if we've gotten the single lamp on 16-20, but I know 100% that we have never gotten the specific order. This Wednesday will be runs 15,16,17 for that floor set so we've gotten at least 20 floors of "Activate all lamps" since we've started spamming, anyone else confirm/deny that specific order can't happen on 16-20?

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

Regarding the disc holders warping @floor 100 and drops, our static group did I believe 13 runs on floor 100, warping every time, and we recieved 7 headpieces. Only once I think did we not get a weapon. TH4 every time. I absolutely believe thief and TH affects drops on the boss floors. So I would say the person who didn't get any head pieces on floor 100 when warping just had bad luck. http://www.shortbusls-ffxi.com/forums/s ... .php?t=162

Guess just dumb luck for us then. Was hoping we could spot some sort of relative pattern as in what can happen in floor ranges (rather than being 100% random as to what you will get), but I guess not.

We've gotten a number of specific order lamps between 16-20 as well, since we're currently farming 20 atm also.

After a while in our static, something seemed to click and it just all got a bit more efficient - could be you'll see the same thing happen, just takes time to get used to the format of the event.

If I had to give any advice (you prob don't need any), I'd say your setup seems ok except that you only have two healers (neither of which is WHM main), and your frontline is a bit low in damage mitigation. Maybe alter that ratio in your favor slightly? Could switch subs in frontline, add a healer, and/or just use meds to even the odds (body boost + fanatic's frontline, and/or mana boost + dusty ether backline healers).

Hope this helps - you look much more experienced than I am in endgame events but that would be my take on it.

    - you have no real tank. Well maybe sam/nin and drk/nin are fine, I dunno. We use a galka war/nin and it works really well, plus we have a thf/nin who can tank just about any mob as well.

    - you're a bit low on healing. For a merit party RDM + BRD is fine, but Nyzul sometimes forces you to pull fast and/or fight nasty crap (I wouldn't wanna do a low-on-time soulflayer floor with that setup D; )

For both climbing up and farming 20's, we use:
    WAR/NIN
    THF/NIN
    BLU/NIN
    BRD/WHM
RDM/WHM (when he's on, the THF can dualbox a RDM mule if not)
    WHM/BLM

This setup gives us 4 sleepers (3 light based and 3 dark based) and 4 people who can cure, both of which often come in handy. I'm the whm and I was a little puzzled at first that the leader asked me to come as that (I have BLM RDM and lolSMN leveled too) because it seemed like too much healing, but I gotta say it comes in handy sometimes. Sometimes I'm sitting at full mp, most of the time I'm using a normal amount of mp, and once in a while I can't even keep up. Repose is also freaking awesome, since it allows me to pull/sleep imps, perytons, hecteyes and crap ;D. If we're doing a kill-all floor and melees don't need me, I go out with the BRD (though usually in the opposite direction) to pull more stuff to camp and I repose it there. Another nice thing about having 2 dedicated healers is that it allows us to split up: on a lot of floors I'll go with the WAR and the RDM will go with the THF. Head Butt spam from the BLU is nice for things like Self-Destruct, Body Slam, Porrogos, etc. Mages are each assigned one melee to sneak immediately after porting each floor (before even reading the objective) so they can Tonko + take off right away if needed.

    Anyway, 2 questions:

    1) what other jobs do people in your group have?
    2) why is the light order floor giving you that much trouble? They're a pain in the ass but they're (usually) not THAT bad....does your group understand how they work? :<

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

Cata spam should help alot with keeping HP up for the 2 DRKs and if you have any problems with healing in Nyzul you need to work on your dd not sucking. Tell the DRKs to fulltime Seigan if they aren't already. If the SAM had Nin or WAr that might work better but the way you worded him not tanking on SAM I doubt it. I would have the SAM sub /WAR personally and learn to tank. You definately want a real Tank for Boss Floors though, either NIN or PLD. (NIN better imo)

RDM, BRD, COR is 3 sleeps, that should be fine. Refresh, Ballads and Evoker's should be plety to keep the RDM full, especially if the DRKs just spam Cata. I really have no clue why your group would struggle other then lack of experience in there I guess. For lamp floors I used to write down the names of lamp hitters and just cycle through the combos until I got it. Need one person taking charge of those floors and unless you are just unlucky and it's the last possible combo, they go fast and easy.

The Bosses might be easy compared to outside but they are still pretty tough without a tank. We usually did WHM, BRD, MNKx2, NIN, THF for Bosses(sometimes a COR or BLM instead of a MNK) and some form of 3-4dd, one healer and 1-2 support for clear floors.

    Re: Nyzul Isle question

I think there's a chance that one of our DRKs has WAR also.. But I wouldn't bank on it. Would you guys say it would be unwise to keep our current DRK DRK SAM setup?

Jobs of the people I'm aware of:

    BRD, BLM(Me)

COR/THF, WAR, NIN, WHM, SMN, MNK

    SAM, THF

    RDM, NIN, BRD, PLD

    DRK, WAR

    DRK

Bolded are the jobs that people come as at the moment. I realize that we have a potential tank in the COR.. But the SAM also don't have AF2 hands like the COR does, so I was always against the COR going as anything but THF for boss farming. We would also lose a sleeper(Either way, when on Thief, he actively uses Sleep Bolts), and a Refresher.

Thanks for the comments so far \:D/

(Edit, found out new jobs available for people)

For the record, I have a personal friend interested in joining, should we lose a member. She has BLU, DRK, PUP, and SMN available.. Could anyone think of a wise place to put any of those jobs in my setup?
