Use axes, the survivability from /nin will help 90% of the pts you're in.

Because you can't use Utsusemi with a Great Axe.

It was more about war/nin with axes vs war/sam with gaxe. That being said, war/nin probably outdoes war/nin with gaxe from 55+.

Or you can use Seigan+Third Eye, which in most situations is going to work just as well or better on xp mobs (hi2u Pecking Flurry, Rushing *, and Fang Rush). Only time Utsusemi works better is when you're fighting a mob with a physical AoE.

Seigan is lv 35, so you'd only get that as a sub at 70, for low level xp /nin does increase survivability, and even you sub it in the 50s i'd still go for Great Axe for the extra attk/acc.

I did Great axe mostly before the 2h buff, all through the 40's I was /Nin to stay alive.

I did flirt with /Thf some, but man, Zerk+SA+Sturmwind can get you raped if you do it at the wrong time, and noone is expecting you to tank the rest of the fight.
