    Big Bomb

Quick question; my fiancee, a friend, and I are all going to start farming Big Bomb to get the three of us Bomblets and a little cash on the side. Is there anything specific to know when fighting? We'll be going as Nin/War, Thf/Nin, Rdm/Whm; unless of course theres something else one of should be subbing. On fraudopedia it says it grows on spike damage so should all WS be avoided? Any helpful info would be great, and thanks :D

That will be an easy win, especially since the implementation of Accomplice. That information is indeed correct. You will need to avoid WS entirely until the very end and you can do one to finish it off. If you don't, you will get a huge number of continuous TP attacks and healing won't be able to keep up.

Keeping him enfeebled is extremely important so make sure the RDM is paying attention to their chat log. He resists a fair amount of enfeebles, even at 329 enfeebling magic but it's necessary to keep them on him for a smooth fight.

Hmm, since you won't be using TP on him, wouldn't it be a good idea to /dnc on him (for the nin at the least) for some added cures/enfeebles?

might want to consider nin/drk or rdm/drk for stun for the PHers there when your farming the items also.

    Re: Big Bomb

Big Bomb can't be stunned, but the mobs you farm for the trigger item that pops him can be stunned.

I still prefer /WAR for the higher damage output, faster fights, and in general better hate control. Your damage output is going to be your primary source of hate on Big Bomb, because you can't afford to spam JAs/Spells/etc non-stop when you're main tanking it. Most of the time he won't miss often no matter what gear you're wearing, and his natural attack speed is really fast. Combined with double attacks and hitting for 200-400 a hit, you're going to be putting most priorities on just making sure shadows stay up. /WAR is a little more friendly towards this situation IMO, but whichever SJ floats your boat!

Any attack over ~200-250 damage will cause it to increase in size, it doesn't have to be a WS. A critical hit from a SA or TA, or a 2h weapon, could also cause it to grow.

There's only one way and it's a pain in the ass.

Path is basically as if going to Navukgo Execution Chamber but take the furthest south entrance to Halvung from the Island west of MtZ. Then just follow these paths:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ia/bigbomb.jpg

Red path if you don't have enough peeps to open the weighted door (similar to doors in Quicksand caves but you need more peeps) otherwise take the blue path. In 9-H there's two bombs and where there's bombs on the map (the two on the bridge in I-8 and the two in the bottom of slope in I-10) you will find the bombs that drop the Smoky Flasks. No other bombs in the zone drop the pop item afaik. Be aware that G-8 onwards you will meet true sight trolls. If you have to take the red path have your ninja or thief run first and sac pull it all and die on the ledge near the ???. If you take the blue path you might as well kill everything on your path, there's 2 (or 3, it's a couple of months since we went on a farming spree there) trolls in the room with bombs that are true sight. The NM Mythrilmouth Monamaq is non-aggro and so are his two troll goonies.

Everyone else already said rest of it.

    Thanks for all the advice

In response to what Ruke was saying, if he's fairly accurate and lands more often then not, should any damage X% gear be brought? I can use Accomplice in those close situations, but I normally keep that on reserve for any big cures/stacked enfeebles that the mages pull hate on. Or will it just be safe to go at it like we would any other monster we'd trio and the mage just needs to be aware that a lot of cures and enfeebles are needed to stay on?

Way back I solod the PHs by mysel as NIN/WHM. That was with Barfire and macro in my complete Tiamat resist gear when I saw a Firega

Went 1/3 on Big Bomb for myself.

I actually bring quite a few sets of gear to him, and use just about all of them. I bring:

    - Evasion gear that I usually TP in while fighting Big Bomb.
    - Damage reduction gear for when I'll have to take a good deal of physical damage. For example, casting Firaga III shortly after I use Ni and messing up my timers.
    - Magic reduction/Barfira mix of gear for lowering damage taken from Firaga. Combined with a RDM's ~100 Barfire I usually resist the Firaga damage down to ~20-100 around 80% of the time.
    - DD gear for killing the PHs faster, and sometimes on Big Bomb if things are going smooth.
    - WS gear (of course).
    - Enmity gear for insurance, just to use with Provoke/Warcry. Every so often you'll get fights where everything likes to go wrong, and it spams Firaga and I get unlucky with timing and resists, etc, and hate can be difficult to manage... So it's good to have something to fall back on to help with it.

I haven't been back there since they implemented accomplice though, but I'd imagine that'd make hate control in the worst situation a lot easier. I probably will shelf bringing enmity gear for that run in the future just because of that.

As far as drop rates go, with TH4 it seems to be about 1/3 to 1/4. We're currently about 21/76.

When setting up for a Firaga III do you go for Fire resist or Magic Damage taken -% more? Sorry if this is a little extra newbie, but neither I nor my fiancee have any experience with tanking anything needing Bargear.
    Right now she'd be using:

Head: Green Ribbon +1 (Camping AH for Black but cant catch it up :/)
    Ranged: Lamia Bow/+1
Neck: Chiv chain (gonna start working on Bubu Gorget)
    Ear: Mermanx2
    Body: Arhat's
    Hands: Hanzo Tekko
    Rings: Mermanx2
    Back: Lamia Mantle +1
    Waist: Water Belt
    Legs: ???
    Feet: Fumas/Yasha/whatever

She's missing a few things like Cerb, Suzaku's, but our LS hasn't done sky in forever, and is having trouble starting back up. Should she aim for more Fire resist or is it fine how it is? I know she could throw a few in there like Malflame Ring/Ruby Ring, Cerb over Lamia mantle, etc but I didn't know if would make a huge difference overall or if her setup was ok as is. Working on a barfira set to bring on my Thief too, but I'm not sure which I should concentrate on more.

    Re: Big Bomb

I aim for magic reduction first, since this is the type of attack that can do a lot of damage in one hit (similar idea for my magic defense gear for BV2). It's not so safe IMO to go for all fire resist where it's either a hit (full or nearly full resist for little to no damage) or a miss (full damage taken and risk of dieing).

    My gear looks something like:
    Head: Black Ribbon
    Neck: Jeweled Collar
    Ear1: Merman's
    Ear2: Merman's
    Body: Osode
    Hands: Tarasque+1
    Ring1: Merman's
    Ring2: Defending
    Back: Resentment
    Waist: Water Belt
    Legs: Yasha+1
    Feet: Suzaku

Could arguably be better in some ways with different gear combinations but I'm not too concerned over how my farming gear is.

Cool thanks a lot. Hopefully this will help us nail this down to a solid farming group then.

    Re: Big Bomb

    Yeah it doesn't work, lol.

Didn't make that connection! Used to just putting that cape on for any and all magic damage reduction situations since it's almost always in effect.

So yeah, better off going with a Cerberus Mantle.

    Re: Big Bomb

make sure to time your cure IVs after a GA

WS is ok, retsu helps para a bit

    just dont use WS gears

if you have evasion gears that dont compromise your haste gears, go for it

drops rate is pretty decent 7/16 here
