i don't think the real point is that he's supposed to be incredible, but more or less the fact that he's this good when he's 8, i'd say he's got somewhere to go in terms of his ability but it does mention he's practicing for 2-3 hours everday already, if he keeps it up at this sort of pace he probably will turn into something original

I'm just saying everyone is wow'ing and wish they could play half as good as him at their age, but he's only slightly better than an average player thats been playing a few years.

no yeah i understand, it's just that most people have never played any instrument, so (especially when seeing one they've never played themselves) it's easily to be wowed.

i remember after about 3 weeks of piano lessons i could play Fur elise (a dumbed down version) which wowed most people who had never really taken up any instrument, but everyone else who had ever touched piano in terms of lessons knew it was relatively easy but at the same time it just sounded somewhat complex.

edit: @Tricen: Wtf is wrong with Avenged Sevenfold? Sure, their singer sucks donkey cock now and I can't really stand anything they came out with after Waking the Fallen, but they still have some pretty cool guitar harmonies here and there.
    This is the singer:
"Hey, I suck balls, but if I yell, I'll sound cool."
    Drummer:
"I can use a dbl bass pedal. Wanna listen to it over and over again with no originality?"
    Guitarists:
"Hey guys, I learned an arpeggio, watch me play 4 of them fast!"

Once you get used to it, it's not that hard <_>. The hard part is playing it with a metronome that only counts straight beets :3

Its the hardest part for me to play on De-Loused. Well, I don't have the gear for the Cicatriz ambiance, but yeah.

    Ambuletz doesn't count.

    Re: 8-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy...

He actually used to be a decent singer, something got fucked up with his voice and then he got horrible lol.
Have you ever heard Waking the Fallen or Sounding the Seventh Trumpet Trice? They were actually pretty decent and original albums. Waking the Fallen stepped up the production alot but they still sounded like Avenged Sevenfold, after that album they became overproduced and just seemed to have lost their originality.

The band has been around for like 7 years now. The first 2 albums are very enjoyable, the 2 most recent albums also coincided with them being signed by Warner Bros. Records (which is the reason behind the overproduction and all around boring music they've been putting out since then).

After hearing the double bass played out at the lunch table every day for unholy confessions, you grow very tried of them. Burn it down or whatever was catchy but it's like a super easy watered down version of Eric Johnson's cliffs of dover.

o lol, bandwagon fans kinda make me grow sick of bands as well
edit :Thank god Evergrey is still unknown to most people :D, They've been around for 10 years or so, have had 6 studio albums and a Live CD/DVD and haven't been picked up by a large label yet. Highly doubt they will be either.

    Kids got nothing on Satriani.

But if your interested in stand alone guitarists:

    Joe Satriani
    Paul Gilbert
    Steve Vai
    John Petrucci
    Eric Johnson
    Ygnwie Malmsteen

Also check out the G3 tour that comes around usually once a year(not sure when since the founder is doing a Euro tour in may/june).

I'd add Liquid Tension Experiment to that list - very cool instrumental music; side project of Dream Theater. John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy and I believe a different bassist; don't remember off the top of my head.

    Re: 8-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy...

I am horrible with names so I'll just name the bands.
    Opeth
    The Mars Volta
    Primus
    Moros Eros (for mellow days)
    The Locust
The Dillinger Escape Plan (I'm afraid to listen to the new album )
    Greg Howe is like woah...
    Zappa is zappa 8)
Psyopus (these guys are just wow, the singer is meh but fuckin a wow)
Steve Morse, gogo the clap, fuck you highland wedding.
Old school 80's metal stuff is good, but not my style. Stuff like Cacophony and uhh Marty Friedman are all respectable but eh... It's all guitar, the drums and vocals are ball sandwhiches if they even have vocals.

    FYI Fuck Malmsteen.

You seem to like guitarists with good technical ability, which is always good to see =); you might want to check out Greg Howe, Shawn Lane, Guthrie Govan, Stochelo Rosenberg, Jason Becker, Allan Holdsworth, Adam Fulara, Ron Thal (Bumblefoot), Buckethead (my personal favorite <3), and Michael Lee Firkins. If you like some of those guys, I can recommend more :3
