For the cats you want to Google "Serval Cat Breeders" or "Savannah Cat Breeders". The F1's (these have the most "Wild Blood" in them) get about the same size as their wild parents, and can jump upwards of 12ft high. They cost about $6,000 also. You can also look into going with a kitten much further into the Domestic Gene Pool and pay a lot less.

    Here's a pic of a F1 Kitten I found on google:

The fox/dog things I can't remember what the hell they were called. I'll do some googling and see what I can find.
Thanks so much, I'm going to start researching the Serval Cats, I'm going to find what would be best to try and keep in and around campus without getting caught. I think a Serval Cat with a little domestication would be fun. (Btw I live in an apartment on campus not a dorm heh). Hopefully you or someone else remembers that Fox type dog breed, I tried googling but kept getting pictures of dogs that hunted foxes and stuff like that. XD

The Wall Of Text post is 100% right. I've never met a German Shepard I haven't liked. I have a year and a half old Australian Shepard, and while he has a lot of energy, needs to be walked, and etc, he has been nothing but a joy. However, they tend to get fixated on a single owner, who is their favorite, however they still enjoy anyone else. Their biggest problem is that they may be too smart, and tend to get in a little trouble.

All the dogs I get from now on will be Aussies, almost certainly.

Well, here how things turned out. My roommate and I went to a couple of shelters and we only found adult or stray big dogs. So we took a shot at the pet store in a local mall and found this adorable puppy: http://petworkspets.com/148007.JPG

Cost us 900 bucks. But it was worth it. This purebred Pomeranian is amazing.. Thanks all for the advice.

I believe the Fox-Dog thing was called a "Fennec Fox". I can't seem to find the thread, might have been lost when the forums crashed.

    Re: Puppy adoption

I have a boston terrier, named bruiser. He is pure win. He never has messes anywhere, doesnt jump on people and is very well behaved 99% of the time. He has only ever ruined one thing and that was in my opinion because half the carpet (which he chewed on) was pulled up. That was right after my GF and I moved into our condo. I think it was the fact that he probably had no idea what was going on or where we were really.

He has been trained though since day 1, when we got him he was exactly 8 weeks old. Leash trained tricks the works, even took him to classes to socialize him and teach him obediance. It was $150 iirc. The 1% that bothers me is his whining, my GF has made him such an attention whore, she doesnt carry him around or anything but he is her baby so to speak. As I type this he is at my feet wanting me to pet him lol. It could very well be that we just got INSANLEY lucky, the first night we had him he actually got on the bed and nudged her face to wake her up and take him out. For an eight week old pup thats pretty amazing, i was surprised i didnt wake up with piss all over me.

If you go to a breeder make sure that he/she has a health gaurantee of some kind. Personally id stay away from most pet stores, shelters can be a good option but finding a small dog may be difficult. On the other hand that may save you money on shots as well, some shelters even do it cheaply even if you did not get the dog there. Getting spaid is more expensive than getting a dog nuetured around here, and they say its healthier for the dog. You might also want to research foods. While you think they would mostly be the same there is some shitty dog food out there. I was told that IAMS is the leftovers of eukanuba (sp) not sure how much truth to that there is. My dog has eaten innova his whole life so far.

You could also stop at pet stores and take a look at the breed books they have, some offer alot of insight into the general traits of the breeds as well as other tips that can be useful.

at least you tried the shelter first. I hate when people bitch that dogs are too expensive, yet you can get them for damn near free. I have a 2 year old Black Lab that came from a shelter and you would almost think he is pure breed

Please, please, whatever you do, please do not feed your dog people food.

My mother ruined two dogs feeding them table scraps. They were beautiful purebred chocolate labs, trained for hunting which they did with them, but the female, she liked the people food too much and eventually grew to the size of a horse. Literally. She was fucking HUGE, and it was such a labor for her to get up and walk around and do anything.

The brother dog had an accident duck hunting, and some result of the surgery and antibiotics left him with a skin condition where he lost all his hair and itched constantly, plus he was also overweight which only made things in general harder for him. These dogs were MISERABLE and my mother refused to put Hunter down despite him scratching himself raw, and having no hair, being practically blind... she insisted they were happy and she loved them and they loved her and her husband, and I know they did, but it just made me die inside every time I thought of the adorable healthy puppies they were and the messes they turned into.

Obviously the table scraps is only an ingredient, there were obviously other issues too, but I know, esp in Hannah's case, it was a huge huge part of her problems... dogs are not meant to eat people's table scraps, don't do it!

    I second this.

I used to see no harm in it when we'd feed our family dog table scraps as I was growing up, since it wasn't that often. Well, that dog not only got extremely overweight, but also got diabetes, and when she eventually died from it, it was not pretty.

Probably a bit late, however I agree with Elesirdur's point to get a German Sheperd breed.

They're fantastically energetic as a puppy, also very quick learners. You'll be surprised at how quickly they pick up new information from their surroundings. As they grow older they become a very loyal and socially adept animal, the only problems is other people's prejudices about the breed of dog being schutzhund trained, which is typically the training most guard dogs undergoe, as it is proven to be the most effective type of training.

If you can handle the amount of walking the dogs require (which isn't typical of this breed, all larger dogs should have at the very least a 1 mile walk every day) then I would definately recommend this breed. I've lived with them all my life, and couldn't think what it would be like without one around.
