Edit: Also, if thats all it takes to get an account banninated then we've been going about dealing with the stolen RMT accounts the entirely wrong way.

It probably wasn't used. Gamestop likes to open a copy to use for display purposes. The disc is taken out, placed in a sleeve, and stored behind the counter.

When the stock runs out, they can sell this display copy, after explaining all this to the customer and hoping they don't walk away in confusion and disgust.

Often times manuals and junk are just left in it. The crack squad of Game Associates that Gamestop employs probably had no idea it could be exploited like that.

This reminds me of the time I got the Vana'Diel collection (up to CoP) at EB games. Their store policy is they don't take back PC games after opened. I get my copy and come home and find a return receipt IN my damn ffxi box. Then I read the receipt to find out it was a store employee who returned it because of their discount. I copied down all the registration codes (can't have them trying to sell it to someone else after this ^^), called them and bitched them out for about 30 minutes. Got my new copy and installed on my PC and my friend's PC. Used my codes for me and the copied down ones for my friend.

Doesn't mean they're stupid enough to change all the EB Games to a gay name (Gamestop). As far as I know, Canada's never heard of Gamestop as far as stores go; they're all EB Games. I could be wrong, but I know that's the case around where I am.

When I went in to get my copy the night of release, I checked to see if the store I used to manage had done taken the codes out. Naturally they hadn't. I used to work with the girl who manages there now, apparently there was no notice from corporate or the DM/RM to take them out so...they didn't do it. Course she knew full well the codes were right there since she plays, but... not really much incentive to go above and beyond there, I'm living proof

Just a note, I can't recall another time that this has happened, at least in the year that I worked there. For WoW:BC we had secret shopper people making damn sure the codes were out. I'm guessing SE had something to do with this

We still have EB too. Guy at my local Gamestop said they own EB, but didn't necessarily change all their names to Gamestop.

Technically they're all supposed to be switched over, in the states anyways, but some are just slow to get all the new signage and everything. Officially though, all the EB stores are now GameStop.
