I'm not even using a guide for my first playthrough, I did stumble upon most of the secret mission requirements though.
Gonna worry about achievements on my 2nd playthrough (if they're even worth it..)

Just like the other Tales game I played (Symphonia) this one suffers from camera issues, the only way to solve them that I've found, just like the other ones, is to focus the camera on someone who is meant to stay back, like a healer. So I usually end up playing the healer or the "mage" type in the game so that I can see the entire field. I hate how they always zoom in on the main character while you're left wondering what's going on behind you.
edit: Yes I know about the zoom out and angle change feature but it didn't really help any. Also, do you need a modded xbox to play downloaded games burned onto a DVD? I have a DVD burner at work but not at home so I'm thinking about whether I should buy it or burn it if it's easy enough.
I guess the hot blonde knight never joins you huh;;
Don't spoil/answer that please, gonna find out myself ._.
If you REALLY don't want to know, don't click this.
If you're just saying that... here's your answer.
Spoiler: show
I haven't reached any point in the game where I have a definite answer so i'm not clicking that link, but from what I see in my story it ain't going to happen.
Not that you want him in your pt anyways, the Yuri/Rita/Estelle/Raven party for bosses works wonders for me. (no melee idiots that get in the way of the boss, and I control Yuri so I know how to pick my spot... and the other 3 attack the bosses from far away, so it works great.)
By the way, to those of you who haven't played a game in this series before... Flynn uses the types of moves the main characters in the other games used.
For the most part Yuri's move set is a welcome (for some people anyway) change.
If you go back and play the other games, don't expect to see too many of the same moves you're used to with him![]()
Oh? Cus I really enjoy playing Yuri heh.
Are the other Tales games this good in terms of story though? Because i'm up to the Krytian village (or looking for the entrance in the woods, anyways) and I haven't enjoyed a story like this since FF9. (where I can literally sit for hours and hours and have to pull myself away when I need to go or do something else..)
That's all subjective, really.
I can't say.
As far as story is concerned I haven't ever thought Tales games have really been awesome.
But then again I don't hold FF9 in high esteem either so I don't think I'd be the best person to ask.
I'm kinda wishing I didn't go for the CE route now.. Amazon still hasn't shipped mine out. Seems like others having the same issue too.![]()
I dunno, Yuri's move set is somewhat like Lukes from Abyss. Flynn on the other hand is a straight copy from Cless, Lloyd and Guy (I think?).
Try playing with Judith again, just dont use her forward attack. Start with Up slash and jump for aerial combos, shes a lot faster in the air. Have Rita use spells like Stalagmite to keep mobs airborne.
As far as story goes, I thought it was very enjoyable and a welcomed change to normal Tales games... In past Tales games; Flynn would have been the main character and not just because of his move set. But something was strange, idk but I kept seeing similarities between this and The Dark Knight lol.
Well no shit, Yuri and fucking Flynn looks exactly like fucking Luke and Guy but with different hair color. GG Namco Bandai at creating new and unique characters. Fucking fail, but the game itself is alright so far, just got past the Goliath.
Boss fight about 29 hours in...
Spoiler: show
EDIT: nevermind, beat him.
I've seen many review saying this one had the best story, but there is a good chance you would enjoy the one on GC and PS2 if you like this one (symphonia/abyss). The story and character were decent.
ToP is similar to Star Ocean 1, and is one of the best snes game. The other Tales game on ps1 remind me of the first disk in Star Ocean 2...light hearted medieval setting and cliché plot, but always fun to play.
You talking about Tales of Eternia or Destiny? I thought Star Ocean games were in space and sort of futuristic... medieval?
As far as I can remember all of the Star Ocean games thus far put you on a low-technology planet somewhere near the start of the game and you roam around towns in a medieval setting.
Things change after you get far enough into them though.
nevermindddddddd...
Ugh... (35hr~ish spoilers)
Spoiler: show
Damn idiots made me think it was the end of the game lol, they kept mentioning it was the final battle etc. and I was getting depressed because I was only 37 hours in...
Just started the "3rd part" I guess, the battle music changed (again), and I got another big milestone achievement... how long is the game from this point until the end? If it keeps up like this (1st part took me 17~, 2nd part 22) I'll probably beat the game at around 60 hours... but just how long is this 3rd section?
QQ at Flynn.
I played Guy in Abyss, I want Flynn gdi. >_<
Didn't read the spoiler, don't want to be spoiled, but I figured at this point it was kinda obvious he probably wouldn't anyway![]()
