Re: Low level job in campaign

I almost always go PLD/WAR to campaign. However, I do so because I go out there to tank, not to DD. I'll go and voke a bunch of mobs and hold them on myself while other DDs rally about. Same thing with NMs, I'll tank any of the Campaign NMs PLD/WAR without much problem. Getting mobbed by multiple monsters makes keeping shadows up difficult and it's free to come /WAR.

I also come PLD/WAR because damnit I just like blood tanking. I miss it alot since it never happens anymore in my end-game situations and I've still got a good gear set for it. Besides, I really get into the whole 'epic battle' thing more if I'm not constantly casting Utsusemi.

Actually, that does seem right. While I hadn't looked at this thread until today, nor was I aware of that JP wiki, Vrytreya (VZX on these forums) and I were doing a number of Eldieme (S) campaigns yesterday, myself on 75BLU and he on 58DNC. We were trying to figure out what if any scaling was done to his exp award for lower level, which was somewhat difficult due to the fact that I was also a rank higher than he. However, in one particularly short battle, he received 340exp/430AN. Noticing that his exp was considerably lower than his AN (something never seen at level 75), and that his exp was exactly 80% of the AN he'd received, we went back through and looked at the awards he had received for other battles that were still in the log. In every case his exp bonus was exactly 80% of a number divisible by 5 (the way exp is awarded at 75), and most of what we presume to be the 'original' (non-scaled) exp awards were 10-40 points below mine (which would account for his lower rank). It also suggests that while exp is scaled for lower level, AN is not.

I'm just going to assume that the %s listed above are accurate for the various level ranges, but one very easy way to test would be to take two people, one 75, one at the level you're interested in testing, and both having the same highest medal. Get tags at the same time, then redeem them quickly, say 2-3 minutes, having performed as much exp/AN-generating actions as possible (easiest in an offensive battle because of Fortifications). For both players, Exp and AN should be capped, making both equal for the level 75 player (or AN 1~4 points higher, as typically happens), and the lower-level player should have an equal AN award, or else another in the 5point range above the greatest multiple of 5 less than or equal to the 75 player's AN. Then take that greatest multiple of 5, multiply by .8 (or whatever scaling corresponds to the level range of the other player) and verify that this was the exp award the lower player received.

So basically to summarize, it seems to work like this:
Step 1: Exp/AN is accumulated due to actions in campaign, with Exp accruing at twice the rate of AN.
Step 2: A cap is imposed, of equal value for Exp and AN, based on the amount of time tags were on and the individual's highest medal.
Step 3: The exp portion is scaled down depending on the level of the player.
Step 4: 1~4 points are added to the AN award, cause still unknown.

For the purposes of testing things, it should be important to note that the value of step 1 seems to rise faster than in step 2 at the beginning of a battle, then equal, than slower, so that for a quick-ending campaign, or one in which you redeem your tags early for whatever reason, you are more likely to have both your exp and AN hit the cap from step 2. Then as time goes on the exp/AN rate slows down, so you will typically end a battle with your exp capped and your AN uncapped, then for particularly long battles you'll usually find that neither was capped. So in that case you can redeem your tags early if you want to see how the cap or the level-based scaling behaves, or later relative to the actions you performed if you want to test how exp is accrued.

Edit: Sorry, wafik, I misread what you were disputing in the above post, and thought you were saying that you were getting full exp in the mid-50s. But I'll leave what I wrote here anyway since I hope it will be useful for checking your claim as well.
