The reports I first heard this morning were that the bombing had happened and Bhutto's condition was unknown, but pretty sure I recall them at first saying she had not been killed; then by noon yeah, it was that she'd been assassinated.

It's so sad, too, because I was just watching this special they had on for Christmas and Christmas Eve, all these religious leaders and every single one of them, Islam or Christian and everything, was saying how nowhere in their teachings is it ever right to kill in the name of God/Allah, and all I can think of is Chris Rock's lines in Dogma: "A belief is a dangerous thing. People die for it. People kill for it. I think it's better to have ideas."

Took longer then expected for someone to kill her. I didn't give her a week after her return from exile. That she lived so long during all the turmoil was either testament to good security, or just timing on waiting for a relatively quieter period so not to make it look like killing her was one of Musharaf's ideas to remove a rival.

call me callous but my 1st thought when i heard was that she lasted longer than Obama would if elected

Everyone saw it coming, the first time she went back to Pakistan, there was an attempt, but luckily she survived it. She had supporters, but the majority of the nation did not want her back in Pakistan. Nonetheless, it is a loss. True story, she was my fiance's neighbor too, a guy on a scooter always circled the house.
