So I modded my Wii

Anyone else here mod their Wii? I'm totally lost on where to get games, because I got banned from blackcats because I could never seed. Blackcats was the only fast place I ever got torrents from, and all of the torrents on TPB are terribly slow. Or perhaps my bittorrent client is shitty. Also, anyone know where I can find stuff on IRC? Possibly? If I shouldn't ask this kind of shit, just delete the thread. :D

I haven't modded my Wii, I heard a recent system update "kills" most modchips.

I have the most recent Wii firmware update and the most recent Wiikey update, and everything works fine, and the setup disk and update disk both work. So nah, I don't think it kills modchips.

Anyway, it's what I heard at least from the import point of view. Was gonna get a mochip to play some imports, but heard most modchips didn't play them.

I can easily find the torrents, but its just fast torrents that I can't find. Torrents on Blackcats were always so fast, but the ones on TPB and stuff like that are awful.

If popular torrents on miniova and isohunt are downloading slow for you, it's probably a NAT problem with your firewall or router.

Yeah, I opened all the ports though and when I try using port checkers and stuff, they all read as open and that my program is properly configured. So what gives?

Does your isp give you newsgroup access? If so there are a few newsgroups where you can download the games. Go to binsearch and look for them.

Well, the mods do allow a sticky for other roms, and torrents for free anime/manga, so I don't see why they'd crack down on this thread :rocl:

hmmmm, I guess the best way to do is to google your isp + usenet or newsgroups. I use giganews (a paid newsgroup server with bandwidth rollover - they don't charge me unless i download enough), and I use that for back up because verizon provides newsgroup access.

alt.binaries.games.wii - if you have access to this, that means you can get the games!

It appears my ISP (Windstream) allows newsgroup usage, but I don't know how to set it up. Can anyone give me a quick walkthrough, or am I gonna get "use google" dickhead responses?

First you need to download a client: I used to use BNR2 (http://www.bnr2.org/) which is pretty good for a free client. (I used newsleecher now but it's not free)

Then all you need to do is connect and find attachments to download.
