So I modded my Wii

Anyone else here mod their Wii? I'm totally lost on where to get games, because I got banned from blackcats because I could never seed. Blackcats was the only fast place I ever got torrents from, and all of the torrents on TPB are terribly slow. Or perhaps my bittorrent client is shitty. Also, anyone know where I can find stuff on IRC? Possibly? If I shouldn't ask this kind of shit, just delete the thread. :D

Did you have the newer version of Wii? I bought one recently and the newer versions are harder to mod. I can't find anyone that will do it and I have the chip an everything

This was the guy that I got to mod my wii. He lives like an hour away from here so I took my wii there myself and waited around in the nearby mall for an hour while he worked <.<

It was a d2c (the new one) and he did a good job, and finished it pretty fast, have had 0 problems with it. $150ish for the install+chip

If people want to go through the effort to mod, download games, and all of that, then let them. There's nothing morally wrong about it, and the whole "the company/singers/rappers/artists" are suffering is bullshit.

Oh no, microsoft will only make 9 instead of 8billion this year, 50 cent will only make 50million. Yes I realize this could pose a huge problem if everyone did it, but for alot of people, PAYING the $50 is that much easier, and many would prefer that over the hassle. There's so many ways in this world that the poor man gets by "easier" than others. This is no different, and is definitely not the majority, and never will be. People with money readily able to spend will always largely outnumber those who are devious and smart enough to stay on the edge of modding/pirating.

I remember the whole MP3 scare a couple years ago. Last I checked, I didnt see any mainstream singers suffering because of this, living on the streets and ending up poor. Last I checked it was the people who were downloading these MP3s that were the poor/not as well-off ones. I know this seems to condone stealing and if you think about it, is just downright wrong. But take a tunnel-visioned step back, and realize just how fucked up it is for someone to have a 6million dollar home.

there's a huge difference between what musicians get compared to people in the video game industry. My cousin is still living comfortably off of royalties from the one faith no more album he was part of which was back in 98, whereas in the game industry, after a year or so, those royalties you make pretty much go bye bye since no one is going to stock old games. Yea, it may be a double standard, but i'm not big on pirating in print games due to the fact it hurts the people working on the game more then an mp3 download hurts a musician.

People repost older games from time to time so you just need to look out for them. (or just go to torrents) As for filters, it depends on your client.

This probably deserves it's own topic, but I'll just post it here.

Wii hardware has finally been opened up. Until now, all homebrew has had to run in GC mode, which has meant no homebrew that utilizes any of the wii's capabilities outside of gamecube mode.

Sounds almost as cool as taking the least important part of someones post and making it out to be entirely that! I was referring to those who make the mods, etc...not those who purchase them. An example would be my brothers, who bought a cable box with a chip in it, and get free cable essentially. Its a huge hassle which ends up with them not having cable for short periods of time, ontop of no HD, and just not being as user friendly. They have to go to message boards and are basically at the mercy of those who are "devious and smart enough" to keep their pirated box working. I on the other hand pay for comcast, enjoy a seemless and reliable cable experience with exactly what I want, and pay for it in the end.
I'd rather have that though, because the ease is that much more important for me, than the 15 bucks I pay a month between me and my 2 roommates. See what Im getting at? I realize its not an exact comparison, but it draws its similarities.

With a modded 360, you get banned from Live for using it with a firmware flasher. With a wii, the only downside is the chance you brick your wii (and you have to be a fucking idiot to do it). So with the 360, you're probably better off not modding it and buying the damn games, with wii, there's really no risk, as the chips are cheap and the installations aren't much more. Another upside, as I found out yesterday, is resale value. I paid $250 for my wii a year ago, put a $30 modchip, paid a bit to get the chip (re)installed, and sold my Wii yesterday for $375. I played my Wii for a year and it cost me next to nothing. Here I come PS3 and 1080p goodness. Gonna hafta get used to the $60 game price point
