Except pre-MPK patch when questioning a BST about where he/she wanted to camp would result in have a few mobs dropped off in your camp. :DOriginally Posted by Metah
I think that regarding events that need some sprucing up, Brenner/Ballista could be VERY interesting if SE used the system more efficiently, like using some of the more 'less traveled' outdoor zones and a few dungeons for the event. That would mix things up a bit and make it a little more interesting and of course if you were participating you cant be touched by monsters or outside people in the area.
Maybe some Conflict rewards for scoring high besides titles would get people who dont like the concept of doing something for nothing to participate as well. Adding some daily 'incentives' to participate in a random level cap/uncap such as a prize for the winner would make PvP just a little more popular.
Before SE does anything to anything Conflict related, I want them to make cross-server matches doable, as barely anyone does Ballista it on Asura when I actually do participate.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos

I agree with this thread.I think alot of fun could be had out of more upgrades to NPCs. Seems like they totally forgot about that aspect of FFXI.
i couldnt agree more with mioko especially since theres been plenty of times when my npc was my only willing partner when learning blue magic.
Useless piece of info: Your npc now spawns with Dream Boots +1 if you use your pearl with all the +1 equipped. I thought it was pretty snazzy.
I think people will fuck with exp camps with or without NPCs given a motivation to do it(including a rival exp party). Basically, blaming the NPC system is pretty much just finding a reason to blame someone for doing the same thing you are, competitively. Well, that is, unless they are just fucking around with you on purpose.
Now combine this with the majority of FFXI being sheep and only exping(in party or with NPC) in one or two areas out of potential dozens because someone told them to and they can't think... you get a rather terrible situation. It seems like only BSTs ever gave an effort to go around other people and everyone just read this as some god given right to claim what's areas can be used for what.
I don't have a problem with the NPC system as a whole but I don't agree with how its able to be used in popular exp zones. I have taken 2 jobs to 75 since the NPC system allowed inside use in dungeons and on nights where its just impossible to party in an AU area in the mid 50's the old area's were just a cluster fuck nightmare with NPC's all over the place.
The only "exp spot" I leveled my NPC at was Helm Beetles in CN, and there was never an EXP party there.
All the fucking more fucking reason for fucking people to get their fucking maws so they can fucking exp in the fucking past with stacked up fucking Sigil bonuses instead of fucking standard RoZ fucking grinding. Fuck.
I heard there's a guy in each city that will warp you to any area in the past that you've been to before.Originally Posted by miokomioko

Agreed, I loved messing around with my NPC to solo lowbie jobs past he dunes, plus getting skillups. I think simple changes like give them access to more areas and up the lv cap to 70, 75 would be nice but really isn't needed 70 is a good stopping point.
I couldn't agree more with the person that said old content needs to be updated. I've been saying that since before ToAU. Stuff like brenner and pankration were added without much replay value and have become unpopular. New things have greatly impacted the popularity and usefulness of old content, it seems a real oversight to not try and balance things out. I still think Garrison is one of the untapped souces of gil in the game but sadly enough many players have never done them outside of the occasional pick-up pt in starter cities. Remember when there were ppl shouting for Eco-warrior quest? Now all that crap is just laying there in DAT files taking up space. Either revamp/update or replace them entirely pls SE <3
No no. It is quite obviously the NPC's fault, as we know that people are incapable of being assholes without outside motivation! Like when people farming coffer keys would gleefully camp on top of my XP parties in Garlaige Citadel killing the mobs that we were XPing on. Even though people did this before NPCs, it still must be their fault. Or when trying to XP in Kuftal Tunnel, people would come in and skill up on the crabs we were fighting, must be adventuring fellows (that they don't have) fault.Originally Posted by BRP

P.S. Kuno and Alleya, remind me to slap the both of you when I get back from work.
People're going to be dicks regardless really. I mostly duo'd my npc in Cape Terrigan between adamantoise windows, and watching kreutzet for ls people. Got a lot duo'ing hecteyes in SSG as well.
Did a bit in Kuftal and Boyadha, when I went to unlock WSNM stuff or so, but it's easy enough to stay out of the hair of regular pt's. Both area's have a ton of mobs that are less levelled on, but are easy fodder for one or two 75's with npc's.
Those two places are where I ran into NPC levellers (combined with weapon skillupers) when I was levelling lower jobs. And few have the decency to adjust to normal pt's, I have to agree on that.
Don't really want ToAU access that badly, just sea and sky would be nice, and some other updates would be nice. There's quite a few people with maxed npc's, so just abandoning it like that doesn't seem right. :3
If the daily reward was a valuable piece of armor or a weapon, more people would participate because thats all everything ingame boils down to. Time vs Reward, put the rewards in a 'side' event like Ballista and people will flock to it thus giving people something to work for without actually getting new content. Before SE does anything to anything Conflict related, I want them to make cross-server matches doable, as barely anyone does Ballista it on Asura when I actually do participate.
Truer words havent been spoken. People bitch about getting overrun with 'dickheads' camping in their camp spot and thats mostly because people pick 'generic popular PT camp #1'All the fucking more fucking reason for fucking people to get their fucking maws so they can fucking exp in the fucking past with stacked up fucking Sigil bonuses instead of fucking standard RoZ fucking grinding. Fuck.
Cnest vs East Ronfaure [s]
Quicksands vs Meriphataud Mnts [s]
Qufim vs Rolanberry/Battalia/Sauromugue [s]
3 popular camps vs 3 new camps that offer more for the exchange of going maybe 5mins out of the way to be TOTALLY alone and lag-free.
Much like everyone thought campaign was new (its basically just a really nice reworking of Garrison), upgrading garrison and probably brenner would result in 'OMG THIS IS GENIUS' which spares SE making something drastically new on top of whatever WotG has to offer soon.I couldn't agree more with the person that said old content needs to be updated. Took me a while (and mostly because I was bored), but I took my NPC to the Crawler's Nest and ground out her levels (and farmed for myself).
In my 50's I was killing all those monsters that parties didnt want, simply because I wasn't about to get into a shouting match with six someones I didnt know and the fact that they didnt particularly care about the random player that is 15-20 levels above them playing near by, as long as that player didnt gank their leveling mobs.
60' and 70's I went in deeper and deeper, in some cases I was partially clearing the way for some parties, and in others I was competing with other farmers in the nest. The higher the level I was, the less people I saw nearby until the only people I saw were endgamers that wanted to kill the Crawler NMs.
I imagine this is similar for other areas where parties (includng myself) grind because "it's where you do it" or "my LS mates told me to go there" or even "I came here before with a similar party set up and we made mad exp!". There are MANY many zones, and even more ways to play this game, the fact that there are some safer/easier/more "cost effective" areas and monsters, people will try to get the most possible out of their grinding experience.
Going back to the spirit of the thread, Fellowship NPC could do well with an update; additional quests, more names/looks/equipment, status tweaks, places where to make them available, etc. But if people don't want to play with their NPC (the ones that did the quest for fame, not because you wanted actually the npc) that's fine too, just remember those that do like to play with their NPC's have a right to grind their NPC as much as you do grinding your main/sub/alt job class.
