does it get really hot?
does it make loud noises?
what else is happening when this happens?
did you add anything new?
did you change any settings?
it could be a number of things, just saying what you said isnt enough info =/
does it get really hot?
yea but its been that way before
does it make loud noises?
not that much
what else is happening when this happens?
when i move the mouse in circles it stops at one spot at times, everything is slower in general, if i watch vids or listen to music it pauses every sec even if its not streaming
did you add anything new?
not that i know of
did you change any settings?
dont think so
first defrag your hdd even if it says it doesnt need it
2nd download ultimate boot CD and run memtest86 and also the HDD tests for your specific brand of HD
the results are probably going to be one of those is failing =/
Could just be excessive fragmentation.
I use Diskeeper for my machine and the autodefrag got screwed up last week and wasn't running, didn't find out until my computer was running extremely slow, fixed Diskeeper and no problems at all afterwards, so yeah it doesn't necessarily mean hardware failure :<
thanks for the help but...fragmentation? diskeeper? dont really know what you guys are talking about :x
:<
Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter
Just run that on C: drive and see if that speeds up your PC.
so i did this and it still runs slow..
Go to the task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) and check your process usage % at idle desktop. Aka not running any programs. If this number stays higher then 5% constantly then something is raping your processor.
Figure out what it is by going to the processes tab and locating the exe using the according percentage. Something doing this is likely to be a virus scanner or equivalent program. End it's process then see if it helps relieve the issue.
If it does, uninstall the program or figure out how to disable it's process rape-age.
thanks ill give that a shot
You have AVG with SpyWare remover? AVGfree douse not come with it. Mine gets slow all the time, run a SpyBot (freeware) clean it up, and all is back to normal.
well here is my cpu usage. it bounces from 2% to 10% randomly though

ok ill try the spyware scanning
2-10% is fine.
Adaware 2007 is another good spyware program.
