Re: 2008 NFL Playoffs: Wild Card Round Picks

Congrats Chargers on your first playoff win since I believe.. 1994? It's been a while, I know that much.

LT was clearly in. He was! He had a second effort, it's just hard to notice since there were so many guys right there. The Titans did a good job stopping him there though almost, and all throughout the game. I'm surprised lolRivers didn't completely choke away the game. I guess they had the Titans and Vince Young there to do that for them.

Also, Norv is looking like a semi-decent hire and they also got lucky with the matchup. They won a playoff game now, and Marty never did, so oh well. Congrats either way!

You do know thats illegal, but went completely unseen? lol Forward progress cannot be reinitiated by a player pushing another player on the same team.

Wasn't a TD to begin with though.

I really doubt that went unseen. It was pretty blatant. If it's illegal, they missed it twice. It may just be one of those rules that happens a lot but is rarely called (like using another player's body to hoist yourself to block a kick, or whatever analogy you want to input here.) It may have also not been reviewable, so maybe they seen it in the replay but were unable to make the call. I doubt any of them seen it live.

it's definitely illegal, but RARELY called. remember bush pushing leinart into the endzone against Notre Dame in 05 and all the chaos that ensued for it not being called. and no, its not one of those rules that exists in college but not the pros, i just couldnt think of a better example off the top of my head.

I'm sure if you took away Tom Brady's top 3 recievers and 2 of his starting oline, or did the same to rivers, romo, eli, hell Joe Montana at the peak of his career, they'd go in and dominate a road playoff game against a team on a 6 game win streak right?

    [injury excuses inserted]

Oh yeah, of course, what am I thinking, all you'd have to do is give them LenDale White and Chris Brown and they'd totally pick up the slack.

Vince made some good throws, just wait until he gets something better than a JV offense and things will be a lot different. Eli/Rivers/Reothlisberger/Romo all have their pro-bowl weapons...

As much as I hate Young right now, I won't burn him until I see how he does with a WR set that isn't the absolute worst in the league.

That's fair, but lets for the sake of this argument that Moss played for the Raiders, Welker played for the Dolphins and Stallworth played for the Eagles right? Lets take away 2 offensive linemen due to injury, (because we all know that Bellichick would never plan for that) and see where Brady goes. Oh wait, thats been done and if I recall correctly they won numerous Super Bowls with out any of the afore mentioned people.

Merrill Hodge summed it up best; when he called the Titans offense "Elementary" because of Youngs inability to grasp the entire playbook. There was an article on it from when Chow was considering taking the UCLA job. I will see if I can find it.

Edit: I am actually with Weltall in this regard, I don't like Young for many reasons, but it would be interesting to see what he would do with a half way decent receiving corp. The jury is still out until that happens though.

If I remember right, taking away one of Brady's top recievers during that time would be taking away a Super Bowl MVP.

I know! It's fucking amazing how someone can be so good that they turn average WRs into superbowl MVPs.
