The word "Elitest", who wouldn't?

Had like a discussion on LS, and the world "ELITEST" came into play... So basically people with better skills, good gear, better w/e and decides to not deal with, invite people of a lower calibar, thus preventing dead weight from entering your EXP, LS, Assaults etc.

This is what people call elitest?

My gripe is, when has becoming #2, or #3 or last place has it's benefits. Who would pride themselves of that? In game or IRL, I thought that everyone wants to strive for the best. Are you telling me there are people who would take a 15k/year job over a 75k? Then call that engineer or whatever @ 75k an "Elitest" lol

This is what I don't get, the crappy players, aka the confused gear/wtf gear thread.. I thought it was good to get A's in school, get a high paying job or do well in a online game... guess that's asking too much?

Ironic, my server was like that too. Part of the reason I stopped playing (another being I realized playing ffxi is similar to going into a coma for a couple years.) Only thing I miss to this day is tanking robber crabs on Ninja. So fun, go 3 hours without getting hit, lol.

I think plenty of people who call people elitist fall into one of the four categories:

1) Originally learned incorrect fact from website(Allakazahm ), after fact is proven wrong they stubbornly refuse to change. Over time this develops into thinking one way and refusing to believe any other way is correct or un-elitist. Basically turning into what they apparently despise. (Example: Bloodtanking)

2) Much like above, gets proven wrong and falls back on the "you are an elitist" to safe-face. (Example: Some random item debate involve Attack vs Haste or someting)

3) Roleplayer, occasionally wander into parks and attack people with homemade Clausturms. Category can also include the type who only level jobs "based in that city"(PLD/NIN is wrong because PLD is a San d'Oria job and Ninja is about stealth). May or May not accuse you of hacking their account through windower.

4) People who are unsatisfactory, know it, and just don't care until someone comes into conflict with them. They aren't really mean on purpose, they just don't contain ability to swallow the complex and confusing system! Instead they are probably indulging in Myspace or chatting with that Mithra who is really shy and won't talk over vent or send pics. Occasionally make threads about admitting they are a furfag, particularly over Krystal the Star Fox character.

Mix 'em up for extra lulz.

yeah i lol'd at first when a dude in haub+1 had bastard sowrd+1 and bloodsword dual wieldededed but then his vorpals were owning the crawlers in aydeewa more than any rampage i saw and i didnt argue heh

but to rerail, i broke a merit pt cuz this winner WAR/NIN neglected to bring shihei (which we found out when we asked why he wasnt voking when some other dd's were at 200hp) he was also using martial axe (axe, not gaxe) and a week later was shouting in whitegate about why does everyone hate him,and also he is the best warrior on the server and everyone loves his gear

How do you even determine linkshell ranking on a game like FFXI. Everyone kills/can kill everything pretty regularly because its all so easy, with the exception of broken ass AV. Fish ranking is more competitive than FFXI endgame.
