    New G15 Keyboard

    so i just got a G15 keyboard... now what do i do X_X;?

    id like to use the G-keys to run equipment swaps while keeping my normal macros for spells; how would i run that?

    i also saw that there is a difference between the older and new versions, how do i tell which version i have (im pretty sure its the newer one)

    Old onees have blue llights, and 18 G keys, new one has amber or something with less keys. I'm not sure if the plugin has been updated to work with the new one yet.

    Be happy you don't have the new one, which still isn't 100% compatible with the G15Binder, but StarHawk is working on it, for the new one

    As for what to do, check out the info on the Windower forums, in the G15 section, but general idea is:

    You make an alias text file (Say call it RDM.txt, if it's for RDM), and then you use windower type macros in that text file. They are already bound to the G-Keys, so you just have to level them something like this...

    alias m1g1 input /ma "Cure III" <name or something>;

    M1G1 = Macro Pallete #1, G-Key #1. You can also use it to do input exec "windowermacroyoualreadyuse.txt". I'm not a pro on this, but that's the basics.

    Once you've made this text file, you can load it in your autoexec, or manually through the console inside Windower (i.e: Hit your console key and type "exec "rdm.txt"), and it should work with your G-Keys (Granted you loaded the G15Binder )

    The new one is a total downgrade and more expensive. You should have no problems with the old one, though.

    Re: New G15 Keyboard

    I'm going to hi-jack this thread, since I don't see the point of starting a new thread about the same topic. I'm very interested in buying a G15, but I've not actually been able to find one to see exactly the size of the keyboard itself. The one I'm looking to buy is what I'm guessing is still the original generation (blue back-light, 18 macro keys), and I'm very interested if anyone uses it on their lap. I predominantly use my keyboard across my lap for FFXI, and am wondering if this is too large/heavy for that sort of application. I'm currently using an older compaq/hp business line keyboard (that I had several of) that is perfect in weight/size, but I frequently play in the dark lately and would love to have the options of the G15 (macro keys specifically) to go along with that backlighting. Can anyone shed some light for me?

    It's pretty large, not really heavy though. I can't imagine using it on my lap but then again I've never tried with any keyboard. Here's a kinda crappy size reference, can sorta see compared to 19" monitor:

    It's definitely not too heavy but probably too wide.

    If you use both the num pad and the G keys (likely), I think you'll have some tipping off the sides. It'd probably be easier if it was heavier tbh.

    Thanks, I think I'll try and find a shop to make sure before I buy it now...
