Campaign music is ok, but one can only take so much blatent drum in one sitting. Here's how you can null or change Campaign's music.
I'm sure a lot of people already know how to dat swap their FFXI music, some don't maybe. On the other hand maybe you just aren't sure which file campaign music is and like me are completely sick of it. Obviously, this is only intended for people using the PC version. Backup the files you're changing if you're afraid you'll mess up blahblahblah.
Navigate to the folder:
[Your Drive C or whatever] C:\Program Files\Playonline\SquareEnix\FinalyFantasyXI\sound5 \win\music\data
This is where all the music files for WotG zones are. Campaign music is "music247.bgw". You can null it by simply renaming it slightly, like rename it "music_247.bgw" instead. Doing so will cause no music at all to play during Campaign battles. This includes engaging enemies outside Campaign. When Campaign ends if there is normal zone music, it will start up again as usual.
Alternatively, if you don't like complete silence either you could switch it with another song file to play. I won't list every single music file, but here's the corresponding WotG music. I personally prefer music 217 or the Ops or Alliance battle music.
