Totally agree with the third OoT statement. If it wasnt for those god forsaken hands coming down every three seconds to send you back to the start of the dungeon, I wouldve beaten that game SO much sooner.
Oh and I couldn't make it past the first zombie in RE0...
System Shock 2. I sent that to my brother and, um, neglected to mention that it was voted one of the scariest PC games of all time.
He later told me he nearly wet himself playing it.
Actually, I had something in OoT freak me out. I was playing late at night, in the Water Temple. Probably around 3am. I paused it for a phone call (oi, kids...) and about 15 minutes later, I tell the person I'm talking to to hold on -- I hear some kind of creepy CHANTING. I'm all... wtf. So... I continue the call, wondering wtf it is. I hang up, looking around, unpause the game -- and the chanting gets louder. SIGH. Naturally, it was the Water temple's background. I just think it's fitting that it was the Temple from Hell.
^Agree with System Shock 2 but good luck trying to get it to run on XP I couldn't for the life of me figure it out.![]()
Clock Tower on both SNES and PS1 are pretty freaky the rest in the series didn't really do the trick though. Fatal Frame series also great for scares, Bioshock as stated above has it's freaky moments.
Silent Hill series is ight (have em all), Resident Evil's coo too (have most, cept the fps ones). But the scariest are the Fatal Frame games, that shit is just too scary. One gets absorbed by the atmosphere. I haven't finished the 2nd by myself tho >_>
Which reminds me, if you spot the movie [Rec], go see it. Basically one gets to see everything from a first person's point of view, the guy is a cameraman. Anyways, I saw that shit by myself (in the middle of the night, mind you) and I almost shat in my pants.

It seems like I might be the only one but when I was doing Doom 3 that kept scaring the shit out of me. I know I checked the corner they'd appear in but the game would pop them there when I turned just to make me jump.![]()
RE games when I was younger, Silent Hill 2 I stopped playing after I got in the hotel, Clock Tower games I think I was 12 playing the first one, fucking scissorman scary as hell.
^The thing about Doom is that once you get over the fact that in every corner there's a demon, you won't get scared anymore; because you anticipate it. Try the Fatal Frames, you get to experience fear (or maybe not) all the time. Then when you get a sense of "being safe," and let down your guard, boom, that shit scares you.
Silent Hill 1: Had gotten my first PS1 around 10 or 11 and Mom decided to give me the OPM magazine along with it. Had a neat demo disc on it with Silent hill 1 with just two stages. Didn't think it was too bad when it first started when I was going down the alley until I stopped and saw this body just hanging there and two little creepy baby things just come out of nowhere and stab the shit out of you. I distinctly remember saying "HOLY SHIT" throwing the controller down and running to my room to cry. Yea... after that I was addicted and ended up playing 2 3 4.
Cheap Scares:
Doom 3
Bioshock
cant think of any others atm
Eternal Darkness

try that at like 2 in the moring with it raining outside.
After playing Silent Hill 2, I found Eternal Darkness "try hard" scary.
Silent Hill 2 was "someone hold me please ; ; ; " scary, I played it in college, at night only because I wanted it to be scary, with surround sound, because I wanted it to be super scary.
Needless to say, hearing the whispers after an eternity of silence scared me so bad.
Played some other spooky games, but none of them are so spooky that I can't play, most of them are "Wow that was cool :D" and I just keep on truckin'
Reading the comments, it says you die if you stay in there. What causes the death? Haven't played SH3 yet.Originally Posted by Avanarius
Bioshock had cheap shit. When you go in the basement and the cemented Splicers move around when you have your back turned. Then you turn around and they are stationary right in front of your face until you move. Was like "holy shit" a couple times.
Silent Hill 1 & 2 definitely the scariest games I've ever played. Silent Hill one just because of the "whaaaaaaaaaat the fuuuuuuck" factor. Silent Hill 2 because of the labyrinth where pyramid head stalks you. Also it's pretty disturbing and frightening in general, even the story.
I was 12 when I got OoT, never found it scary lol.Originally Posted by Exoduso

I replayed OoT a couple of years ago and thought it was stupid that those stupid enemies used to scare me, but hey I was a kid. >.<
if I remember correctly you just kind of have a heart attack and die, but tbh it takes a bitching long time and was the least of the scarynessOriginally Posted by Rehn
