    Re: Scary Video Games!

I was a little more scared of the first Half-Life. No matter how many times you crawl through a dark vent and a fucking headcrab jumps out at you, you never expect it a second time and it ALWAYS FUCKING HAPPENS.

At this point I can move the flashlight at a perfect angle so I can see far enough ahead of me to shoot it before it fucking lurches into my face. That still doesn't save me from the ones that are

    RIGHT

    AROUND

    THE

    CORNER

RE freaked me right the fuck out when I first saw it. It was when the Resident Evil was first released for PS. My friend and I were at his uncles house and were watching him play. I was like 8 or 9 years old. That was scary as hell.

Then when that licker thing came at me for the first time in RE2, I couldnt play for a bit after that. The freaking things brain hanging out.

I must admit, this has to be one of my favorite threads in recent memory... I read all these stories and imagine everyone freaking out like little girls (don't worry, I can totally relate), and it cracks me up pretty hardcore.

I was scared of water levels in any game for some good time after the shark area in Resident Evil :<.

Andross (that big monkey) appearing at the Game-Over screen of Star Fox for the SNES scared the shit out of me, too. I never finished that game as a kid because of it.

Not so much scary as it was just creepy as fuck. One of the Hitman games for PS2 had you going into a meat packing plant looking for a missing girl. You find her in the meat locker strung upside down dead with the guy that killed her. Candles lit up all over the place and the radio playing "Put your head on my shouuuuuuldeeeeer."

Creepy shit. I paused it and yelled for my friend to check it out because I thought it was awesome.

Those shark thingies in the first Half-Life, especially in the dark, broken-apart room where you have to jump across perfectly or fall in, and you can't see into the water to see it coming. Shit, man, I just lured them up to the ladder and killed them so I wouldn't freak out everytime I botched the jump and scrambled like a cat in water to the ladder again. Was much easier when my sharkie wasn't there to eat your ass when you didn't make it.

RE2 when the licker jumps through the window I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

Fatal Frame 2, I never played but watched a friend play and honestly it wasn't that creepy, I don't know why everyone else here got freaked out by it >.>

SH3 was pretty creepy for me my first time through.

I forget the name of the game, it was on Gamecube, and the more damage you took, the more you started to freak out, various death scenes and hallucinations, like walking back through a maze and suddenly a room you were just in is upside down, the screen randomly flickering off like your TV shorted out, or the game pretending to reboot and the Nintendo symbol popping up on screen. That game freaked me the fuck out just due to the absolute strangeness of what would happen as you got more fucked up. I mean, who wants to walk through a garden that's turned upside down, and is dripping blood as you walk on the ceiling (floor) with zombies that you can't hurt because they're not really there o.o

Oh, and Doom 2. Playing that when I was 11 or 12 was like "oh man this is awesome" until the 3rd stage and I suddenly felt like turning the game off.

    Re: Scary Video Games!

The first Silent Hill was, to date, the only game I've ever had to pause, turn on the lights and take a 15 minute break. The beginning is awesome, the mood and setting developed well and built tension, and then BAM, it's nighttime on your ass.

Other games that got me were (as other people have mentioned) the RE1 dog through the window, and dog off the ceiling in the beginning. And because I somehow missed the hype of Halo, the first flood appearence completely got me freaked out.

A few of the Colossi(real word?) from Shadow of the Colossus got my hearth racing a bit, but those weren't really "scary" per say.

    Fatal Frame. By far.

First time I ever paused that game to restart the dryer..I come back and there are bloody handprints all over the screen.
    I actually froze.

    Bloody awesome game.
