Picking up a new 360 game

only I don't know wtf to get. I have CoD4 and ME, getting kind of tired of shooters though. Been playing Forza Motorsport 2 which is actually a fucking awesome game...but I think I'm craving me some RPG. I'm teetering between Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon. Oblivion just doesn't appeal to me, sorry. If not ES or BD, then a game with depth and longevity. Are there any maybe older normal XBOX games that are worth me picking up? I think out of all of these, ES appeals to me the most though but I'd like a second opinion.

If you are into action rpgs, you should check out Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom. It's available now at most game stores, major chains will have it next week. This is from the PC version, but it's identical to the Xbox version. It has 4 player xbox live, tons of rare items, synthing, skills, leveling online, random dungeons... etc...

Blue Dragon is ok, nothing terribly exciting though. I've played through the first disk, done a little of the second, and tbh I just lost interest. It feels slow paced.

I'm not sure how good that game is, it looks a lot like a regular hack n' slash, but i'll give it a try soon enough.

Since you have Mass Effect i'd tell you to wait a month and buy Lost Odyssey and DMC4. (and Ninja Gaiden 2 in April. )

Don't bother buying Blue Dragon or Eternal Sonata... the latter is better, but neither one is actually worth 60 bucks, rentals at best.

Beat it for the sake of the final boss music, next-gen One Winged Angel 4tw.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll keep an eye out on DMC4 and Lost Odyssey. Kingdom of Fire doesn't come out till the 8th, just called my local Gamestop. ;_; I'll have to wait..and Exo I love standard hack-n-slash like that, especially in that kind of older-looking setting. Loved PSO, played that endlessly. Speaking of, how is PSU? Huge disappointment I heard?

Wow that sounds cool, is this game pretty good? I see ads for it, but I wasn't sure.

As for Eternal Sonata, it is coming out for PS3 early next year with tons of new content, so I'd wait on that.

I liked PSU... just don't bother with the online because it's horrible. Story mode is pretty decent though. I also like hack n slashes, it just seemed more like N3 or Dynasty Warriors than games like DMC or w/e... Still gonna give it a shot though cus MS seems to be pushing it.

And yeah, DMC and LO are out in a month... can't wait. :D

Yeah I'll beat it eventually, I don't dislike it yet, just rarely in the mood to play.

Yea DMC4 is gonna be so amazing. First week of February right? I think I'm gonna play it on PS3, that is the lead SKU supposedly, we'll see.

And yea Exo, ES is gonna have like new characters and some other shit, it is a lot of stuff. Check the internetz.

Re: Picking up a new 360 game

I hope Uematsu did a better job on LO than BD because (again, excluding the FUCKING AWESOME final boss music and the final dungeon music) the game's soundtrack was pretty dull and uninteresting, especially coming from him and knowing what he can do (hi2u perfect FF9 soundtrack.)

Wow, that Kingdom Under Fire game looks awesome, I might have to invest.

Also, is Mass Effect as good as the reviews suggest?

For the most part yes, I know many people love it.

You just have to like Bioware style rpgs, where you are really in control of the story, and there isn't much over the top cutscenes or story for that matter.

Also there is lots of loading times.. and a poorly designed save system.

someone wanna buy my copy for $40?

    A 100000 times yes.

You can turn off auto saves and save yourself whenever you feel like it (as long as it's not during a battle)... careful though, cus if you forget to save for a while and die, it will throw you back to your last save.

The game doesn't have that many loading times (at least, it doesn't cancel the screen or anything, it just pauses the game for a few seconds at certain points, usually when you ride the elevators, and saying loading in the middle of it for 5~ seconds until it resumes.. no big deal at all.)

You don't really control the story, since anything you choose to say will generally have the same outcome... there are basically 2 paths to take though, renegade decisions and paragon decisions, and those affect the way the story unfolds (and the ending lets you have multiple choices too which is pretty sweet since there are esentially about 5-6 different endings.)

The game starts off pretty slow after the first main mission which throws you right into the action, but once you get off the Citadel it picks up tramendously... definitely one of the better RPGs (and better storylines) in recent years.

So seeing as I played through KOTOR and KOTOR II twice each (light/dark), I should enjoy it eh?

Aye. It's a rather fantastic game. I've played through the first and second KOTORs many times, and ME is a much more polished experience in general.

I never played any of the KOTORS so I don't want to hold you on to it, but I greatly enjoyed ME. (already on my 4th playthrough and still can't stop playing it lol... trying the different classes/different renegade/paragon paths now... Vanguards are fucking awesome. Lift(mapped/macroed/whatever) + Shotgun = win.)
