Picking up a new 360 game

The obvious reason that we're scrambling for longevity is because we've all been poisoned by the MMO bug.

Well yeah there's that, but there's also the fact that the developers realized they don't have to put all that effort into a game to make it sell well, as long as it looks "next-gen" enough, and they have some pretty serious advertising going on.

It sucks, PS2 era was much better than this shit.

That's why I don't get people who laugh at others who rent shit from gamefly, blockbuster, what have you... it's the obvious choice when half the games are rentals at best. Saving some money isn't such a bad thing now is it? (Then again it's your business if you want to spend 65 dollars on a game you'll be playing for a week and then shove to the back of your entertainment system for 3 years before you sell it to gamestop for 10 bucks.)

bumping this cause Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom just came out today. it's getting absolutely shit reviews, im kind of disappointed. im really craving some PSO-esque action, i think ill pick up a copy of PSU, used, play it for a few days and if i hate it i can go return it at gamestop.

I wasn't expecting it to do too well anyways, it seemed like a really average dynasty warriors-esque game, only shittier.

I wonder if the story is any good.

naw, story in KUF is trash, vaguely woven in and pretty uninspired. not like i give a damn about story very much these days; i just want something that i'll find fun to play.

Totally agree with you here, although I don't rent. I prefer to just buy games when they drop to around $20. I bought Assassin's Creed when it first came out (Over thanksgiving weekend) but didn't play it immediately so I returned it. It is destined to be $20 so I'll just get it then.

I like buying games over renting because when I recommend a game to a friend, I like to just lend it to them and not care if I get it back. Its enough to say 'Spend your time playing a game I think is good' without making them trust you enough to buy it. Well, thats how I like to treat my games and my friends.
