Can anyone suggest a decent one? Will only need 2 ports probably, I just don't know the specs I should worry about, supported resolutions and such.
Also, will usb devices with a ps2 adapter work?

I don't use them too much so my only input is: my black box kvms work and work well and last long, my belkin usb one sucks horribly.
Thing is, I'm going to want to use my usb intellimouse, don't care about the kb as I need a new one anyway so I can buy a suitable one. My main concern is I want to use my 19" widescreen LCD and an 8800gt, and I don't want it outputting a shitty video signal/resolution.
Avocent is the product i've always used. http://www.avocent.com/web/en.nsf/Content/Products
Those look altogether more complex than I think I need.
I'm looking at this kind of thing: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/75774
That's nearly exactly the one I'm having issues with, most of them coming from the fact that it insists on switching over to one port or the other when it doesn't detect usb action.Originally Posted by Shuemue
i have 4 16 port compaq kvms and they work great, so you might check out some of thier lower port ones, but i know bestbuy has 2 port usb kvms for like 25 dollars lol
for the last 5 years I have been using a SOHO from Belkin (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817107303)
Although when I got it I only paid about $50, I am rather shocked to see it is $100 now on newegg.
The only issue I have come across (and maybe someone can help me) is that I get a random screw up everynow and then.
While using PC2 I switch to PC1 do something and then switch back to PC2. Once I get back to PC2 the mouse no longer works. This ONLY happens on PC2, and is random in regards to when it happens.
With a nice sized flat panel monitor, you probably have DVI connections, and probably want to use said DVI connections (because it's sexier).
In my searches for a home theater based DVI switch, I've found many DVI KVM switches out there, and I'm fairly certain any of them would do well enough.
Just fine one in your price-range that supports DVI and USB keyboard and mouse, and you'll probably be all set. The only catch is... DVI switches seem to be a lot more expensive than analogue switches.
They also tend to suck.Originally Posted by Edrick
