Re: Trooper's Ring: Good for WHM?

I've been using Trooper's Ring on my RDM and WHM for quite a while now, it's definitely worth swapping in after your MP is used up. MND doesn't have much of an effect on Cure 1 ~ Cure 4, so what better ring to have on than -enmity? If you're in Assault or Salvage, use Balrahn's Ring instead, but otherwise Trooper's is better.

+HP? (which is what I idle in, unless I'm forcing the med latent, in which case I wouldn't be swapping my mp>hp gear out) if you're not going to be taking hate with your current setup there's no need to add more -enmity.

enmity- isn't that clear cut. especially in situations with real tanks, going much beyond -15 to -20 (which is really easy to hit on whitemage) starts to get into the realm of being unnecessary: at which point it's better to throw other stuff in the slot.

in a general exp situation a whitemage would never really need the enmity in that slot unless they had done something really weird with their other slots. (most whitemages will be wearing -8 to -15 enmity full time even in a non-enmity focused build, just because of how many of the 'standard' whitemage pieces have enmity on them as an afterthought).
Yeah I know, while not as extreme it's still a ridiculously stupid question, it has situational use and for 8ooo IS (I think) it's well worth it even if only used rarely.

I've never had more than 3600IS at one time in my life to be fair, I spend 1800 a week which is part of why I don't have a troopers' ring.

likewise, 8000 IS is worth ~120,000gil - which is a lot to pay for such a situational piece.

There are currently no servers where that wouldn't be an exaggeration. If you're on Pandemonium, it's 72k. All other servers are less than that, lowest being Gilgamesh at 46k. Your server is 64k.

Trooper's is also great for Stun (and Flash, but I don't play whm) , and for that it's better than Balrahn's in assault/salvage as well.

Re: Trooper's Ring: Good for WHM?

    no exaggeration at all, actually.

imperial silver piece (1,500g) * 8000IS/100IS = 1,500 * 80 = 120,000g. is how I got the estimate. because you don't generate 99 silver coins with this method I went with the single unit price.

if I use the price as of this hour, it's 104,000 on my server. (the sale rate on the singles is silly.)

if I were whm/drk for stun in salvage I'd still use balrahn's over troopers: whitemage gets a -ton- of enmity gear and enfeebling and macc is much more precious. (for flash I would generally agree; especially since none of the stats on balrahn's really matters for flash.)

Re: Trooper's Ring: Good for WHM?

I use Tamas and currently Ebulliant or Trooper's ring depending on what we're doing. Was using Tamas/Ether but then got an errant cape and so lost some HP from ditching Intensifying. But I'm 8/8 MP merits and can hit crazy numbers for MP build if I need to but rarely bother. I'm hume female too.

Troopers is nice if you do a lot of small manning crap, are in longer fights or there are very few healers. I tend to use it in dyna because there's usually just 2 of us as WHM and sometimes when we've had single alliance farming, just one.

Kinda depends on your setup? This is my standard gear with other crap for barspells, haste etc.

    Walmart Turban
    Cleric's/Nobles
    Errant Cape
    Ajari Necklace
    Blessed Mitts
    Blessed Trousers
    Blessed +1 Feet
    Hierach's Belt
    Loquacious/Magnetic Earrings
    Hedgehog bomb
    Tamas/Eb ring
    Templar Mace/Num Shield +1

Brings me 1018 ish HP subbing SMN. 1037 ish subbing BLM? (just rejigged so can't remember off top of my head) and 1096/1067(?) MP with 8 merits and +36ish MND. For MP build I can switch back in Ether, 3 pieces of zenith, rostrums, diff neck etc and can hit stupid numbers of MP.

I try and keep my HP over 1k now subbing anything. Makes a big difference. I would always switch out to troopers once mp had gone on ether. Now, I use troopers for -emn boost where necessary.

Re: Trooper's Ring: Good for WHM?

I am a taru and lose hella MP when I cast SS because I have a good SS setup and try not to skimp. Try as I may though, I lose about 150 mp at full mp when I cast debuffs or SS. I am thinking about switching to a non mp ring but I need serket for my blm macroes and just never have sold it.

Oh I thought you meant you'd never had that much but I'm sure you have Perdu Blade? The 100k I had was total ever.
