    Blue playstyle? @60

What kind of spells/playstyle should I be expecting from a blu at 60?

/nin with death scissors, mandible, sickle, and bludgeon spam with head butts and cures mixed in?

or /thf with CASATA death scissors and other spells mixed in?

Or are there better damage/status spells that I should be expecting?

Also, is max MP a stat worth investing in for a blu at this lvl?

I played /nin /thf mostly if meleeing on BLU, /thf I put in some "quick spells" like Frenetic Rip and the sort, but mainly had hard hitters like Death Scissors when CASA was up. After playing THF to 75, I'm a fan of the huge spike damage so I prefer to do that over /nin, however people who played other melee/nin jobs preferred to go blu/nin. On imps though you'd be silly to go /thf /nin all the way there.

I personally preferred main healing though, nothing like stocking up on MND and just going nuts with magic fruits. With this I'd also have spells like Geist Wall/Chaotic eye/Blank Gaze etc.
Then again I am just a big fan of main healing Some blus I know kept flaming me how I'm not doing blu justice by main healing instead of DDing, meh!

Always keep some utility spells in (obvious headbutt, not so obvious soporific) and be prepared get that staff out while using it , dumping TP, only if shit hits the fan.

max MP is never worth investing. At your level do auto refresh, attack bonus with death scissors and uppercut (good str spell as well). Refueling is a must always, then head butt, and bludgeon. Then normally I'd do wild oats(or magic fruit depending on how good or crappy your healing support is) and cocoon for next four slots. I think this is what I did at level 60. At 61 you'll get 5 more points and at 64 you'll get even more points because voracious trunk can replace light of penance and cold wave for auto refresh.

I can't think of very many good excuses for subbing /NIN at 60. CASATA Death Scissors owns too ridiculously hard at that level not to sub THF.

Max MP is a joke. 10 MP is not worth 5 BLU points.

Definitely have Head Butt, a cure spell, and probably a sleep spell set. There's a couple decent nuke spells (Eyes on Me) that are worth setting, and in the case of EoM, setting Sound Blast as well is a good idea, since it will combine to make MAB for 1 extra point. If I recall correctly MP Drainkiss owns colibri. I can't even remember clearly if they even have MP though it's been so damned long.

Also have Cocoon set if you don't have someone to consistently trick on, but if you do don't stress on it too hard if you're short a point.

I don't consider Bludgeon a must at that level by any means, it depends what you're fighting. Yeah, it's good damage for a minuscule amount of MP, but if all hits land it gives the mob 30% TP, which can be a real pain in the ass depending on the mob. Feather Tickle, sometimes Pecking Flurry ftl for a single NIN tank in the case of colibri. If you're spamming Bludgeon on Puks, Imps, Cockatrices or Greater Birds, that's grounds for a gunshot to the skull. The exception being of course if they're practically dead and you're trying to finish it off.

I'm like Wafik, I <3 my spike damage so I prefer going /THF when I can. /NIN is a must most of the time at 75 though.

@60, definitely /THF with 150% CASA Death Scissors and normal SA Spinal Cleaves is the way to go and it's a hell of a lot of fun. >.>/

@60 load up on the SACA Death Scissors, SA Dimensional Death/Mandibular Bite and always have Head Butt and Magic Fruit set - no matter what.

If i had a dime for every blue mage that doesnt set the god damn healing spell.... >.>

Magic Fruit - live, learn, become one with the fruit - its as important as setting Head Butt

(Wild Carrot works too... but i think Fruits more efficient)

Max MP never works, just make sure the refresher is doing their part or bitch vigorously~

Don't listen to Wafik, he loves blu/whm and main healing.

do you have any suggestions for a complete blu spell set at 61? that's where i'm hanging out right now and i just can't come to a setup i like. i went to the trouble of creating a moderately involved spreadsheet of all the stats, traits, etc (yes, i'm a nerd.) but i just keep running into the problem of running out of points. here's my current best list with blatant gaps like cocoon (yes, i couldn't even spare the 1 point for it.) how would you tune it?
    Head Butt
    Bomb Toss
    Uppercut
    Stinking Gas
    Refueling
    Frightful Roar
    Self-Destruct
    Cold Wave
    Light of Pennance
    Magic Fruit
    Death Scissors
    Dimensional Death

this yields me the following stats and JTs:
    +25 HP
    +0 MP
    +6 STR
    +4 DEX
    +0 VIT
    +5 AGI
    -1 INT
    +2 MND
    +4 CHR
    Attack Bonus
    Auto Refresh

i'm inclined to axe either DD or BT for the points, but as a taru, i need to stack str where i can, and DD isn't a bad spell either. i also have trouble figuring out what to pull when i need some utility tools like blank gaze on. any thoughts other than "you're stupid?"

I did without Auto Refresh until I could set it for a cheaper cost. That's a compromise that could be hard to swallow, but I tended to not be spammy with my spells and conserve my MP.

I am a very big believer in it is more a matter of what you are surrounded with, that decides how each situation works. Maybe except for max mp. I don't care how much you are dying for mp. That mp is very very rarely going to save you.

Nin or thf... I used nin up into mid 60s but it was more a product of me often being a placebo tank. I believe that /nin gives you more versatility whereas /thf is great to look at.

If you are intending on doing everything you stated when /nin you are going to be dying for mp. Even with refresh it is far and between that you have spare mp. Head butt here... cure there... mandible... whenever... but mp becomes tight more so when you are doing slow kills.
