Yes.
Mainstream FF.
I think 12 had the most mixed reviews, maybe 8 as well?
Storyline in 12 was short. But god bless the bastard who thought up the mark hunting thing.
Personally I would say 8 had the worst reception (although everyone I knew at the time seemed to like it, they turned against it sometime over the next year or two) not counting MQ and anything that should have been a Seiken Densetsu or SaGa game. The only people I know of that don't like 12 are on this board, where we can't even agree about Kingdom Hearts.

Back to the Lightning thing, almost wanna say the screenshot's mid-transformation on her little gunblade thing. So while it looks wonky, kinda have faith each end of its spectrum will look better.
Meanwhile, I'll never be able to grasp how people can look at her and actually think it might be a guy. And no, I'm not talking about side-boob being the deciding factor, either. Think somewhere along the way the androgynous term got confused with feminine.
Personally I liked FFX the most just because of how it left off. Tidus deffinitly was a little annoying but I got past that pretty fast and overall I liked the whole story concept thing. FF9 was pretty close behind as I really was into that old school middle-ages style world (most of the world seemed to be around that time at least). The puzzles were pretty challanging when I first played through it and I loved playing the chocobo hot and cold game. Vivi also kicked ass and took names.
As for FF12, I hardly think it was bad game. I just believe they wanted to try out a different angle and I liked it somewhat but I would like them to return to the turn based system eventually. The story definitly seemed a bit lackluster in how it ended but there was just so much extras in that game and little details that most people overlooked. Personally I wish they had made it a 2 disc game and extended the story to really pull out its potential.
FF8 was my least favourite game of the series to date, for whatever reason I couldnt find a "connection" to the game to really bring me into it.
FF13 looks pretty cool, hopefully with the combination of the white engine and the blu-ray disc the story will be long, challanging and have a tonne of extras to it. I dont have a PS3 yet but I can guarantee you that I plan on buying one when I can find some sort of a date for FF13/MGS4.

Also, for your pleasure, MGS4 has a release date now. Don't quote me on it, its like June/July 10th or something though. Call your local gamestop. Hell, call mine. (815) 356 8430 I'll tell you at work tomorrow when I can look!
An 815 number?! Are you Romeoville or Joliet, IL? Or somewhere else in that area. :rocl:
Crystal Lake / Cary. Glad to see someone who recognizes!
People exaggerate the idea of freedom in "wrpgs"(or as they should be called, Sandbox RPGs, since not all western RPGs are built like that). The whole "each action changes the world", "you can do anything!", "your alignment can be a wide range!"(actually: either good hero or evil bastard, black and white), etc etc has and is full of shit really. A truly free game like Dungeon and Dragons simply can't be simulated without imagination, and computer data does not have imagination. At least "jrpgs" tend to have a story that isn't so damn bland you rather kill farm girls instead of completing the main game.
tl;dr: Play DnD, it needs money to support itself.
