PC Bootup Problem

Recently, when I goto turn on my PC it will startup and then suddenly restart itself (without any video popping up, or any beeps). It will restart itself, and then usually work fine after. Most its done, is reset itself twice before actually booting up.

Just wondering if this is something I should bother worrying about/investigating? The PC runs perfectly fine once its booted up and stays on for days with no issues if I leave it on. It only does this reset on a "cold" boot-up.

I was thinking its a power supply issue, but running a Quad Core (q6660 I believe) Geforce 8600GTS, with a 700w power supply.

Have you done any overclocking, or is it all default?

Do you get any odd messages in the post screen while the computer is booting when it does work?

If you have multiple memory sticks, try booting it with just one stick.

I think you're right to suspect the power supply. I had a box I left on forever, only time I noticed the supply was an issue was when I restarted it too . How old the supply?

Everything is default currently, I was waiting to solve this issue before I considered overclocking anything.

The PSU is only about 2-3 months old.

I am running 2 GB of memory (2x 1GB Stick) so, going to remove one and try booting with the one. Also noticed, the PC does pick up both sticks of memory with no issues.

No weird messages on the boot screen.

my old desktop whenever I do a hard boot it turns on/off/on again, all the time every time, since I got it, friend thinks its just my mobo, nothing else wrong with it :/

my gateway used to do this every reboot and ran perfectly fine for about 3.5 years until I upgraded, may or may not be helpful..I never did find out what the problem was >_<
