I love the silent characters (Squall was one of my favorites!). Need some silent gals though, imo. I personally hate the really peppy main characters.Originally Posted by Falisa

Im not talking about the ones that don't talk much because they're shy or moody etc. Im talking about the ones where the character says nothing at all but people have conversations with you and you never say anything.Originally Posted by Foof
FFXIII made me vote Heroine, seeing her jumping around shooting guys and generally kicking ass, while still having those sweet lips and nice body... man, I want to play that game already.
Gender doesn't matter to me, the person could be a tranny for all I care as long as the main characters are likable and its not some boring predictable plot. More than that, I'm tired of the supposed heroine being the same old white mage love interest. Give me someone with a different personality, actual character development and flaws, and wields something besides a staff or bow. The Suikoden series usually has a pretty good female lead; Nanami, Chris, and Lyon actually get out and involved in the story rather than meekly sitting in the back row casting heals.
Overall I prefer a well written character.
When given a choice a la KoTOR, NWN, FFXI or whatnot, I tend to make a female character just cause, well, that's what I'd rather look at for hours on end.
Aesthetically, that's what I'd lean towards. Though moreso if I can make a character that doesn't look like a porn star in cosplay.
But I'd take a well written guy over being pandered to with a female character model that lacts depth.
I like having characters that aren't all attitude and sarcasm. If they can also be easy on the eyes, then all the better, but it's not the first priority.
Well it has worked pretty ok with video games but movies where girls kicking ass = fail. With an exception to Kill Bill. I really do prefer Male protagonists though. It's just weird like I love all of Miyazaki's films even though they star all females but when he decided to throw in a male for the main character (Princess Mononoke) it ended up being my favorite and his best movie of all time. Well with that being said.. Lenneth Valkyrie is the best female protagonist of all time. :nikkei:
Oh, I misunderstood then. I know what you're talking about now. Don't mind me =POriginally Posted by Falisa
If it's a girl main character, it better be fucking awesome or really well-written, otherwise it's just a Mary Kate and Ashley game.![]()
Pretty much my feelings as well which is also the reason my FFXI char is a female char.Originally Posted by Isiolia
I prefer to have the choice. I just got finished playing Mass Effect the other night with a male character because I find that more easy to relate to, but I'm sure one of my subsequent characters will be a girl just for the fun of designing her face and adding some variety.
I prefer characters who's most interesting features are not physical. Girls who are wearing normal clothes or armor are hotter than that shit we see all too often in videogames and anime. I don't care about gender.
