A friend if mine got hacked by downloading a "windower" directly from that side. Of course its a pure keylogger. Yeah it was totally his own stupidity and stuff. But for people who don´t have much of a clue this is a deathtrap.


The scary thing about this is that it pops up as the 8th entry when you write "Windower" into Google. Too easy for random people to fall for...

Yeah he was rly rly dumb and a newb..... lost 6 HQ staffs 2 Snowrings Scorp Harness+1, Enfeebling Torque, Elemental Torque, Amemet Mantle +1 that kinda stuff and was transfered to Diabolos from Bahamut.

I've been reading this thread for a while and haven't tried to get my account through this new "policy" until last week or so. My experience has been good besides the fact that I have never received their first e-mail with the notarized form attachment. Here's what happened:

After notifying them that my account has been compromised, the person helped me fill out the form and asked me several questions about my character such as what world it was on, the jobs, area you last logged out, etc. At the end of the conversation he said he was sending out the e-mail containing a form I'll need to notarize; however, I have yet to receive this e-mail to this date. So, after 2 days of waiting, I called again to make sure they flagged my account correctly and just printed out the form from this page and sent it in for a next-day delivery via UPS. 2 days after they've received it, I got the e-mail notifying me that they got my notarized form so I called them asap and they gave me my account back after verifying the number in the e-mail, full pol code, etc. My character was stripped and no items or gil were returned to me, but I'm just happy I was able to get my account back.

I totally wasn't expecting them to act that fast with my account considering how many of you guys still haven't gotten yours back after 3 weeks of waiting. I hope you guys get your accounts back as soon as possible. Good Luck!

That is one good luck you got there, anybody know if they require the whole full code or would 4 sets of the code be good enough for them ? i only have the first 3 and last set of numbers for my pol code written down from 3 years ago.. im missing a set of numbers ugh, did anybody get their account back without even giving their reg codes.

3 days.... it's officially been 3 weeks and 3 days for me, every time i've called recently, they tell me that some accounts take longer to investigate, but what the fuck? it's a load of bullshit... being told they can't tell us anything, and to just sit and wait for a fucking email that may or may not come... why... to a loyal paying customer/fan of 3 years that even attended their goddamn fanfest, and paid crazy money to do so...

have never, EVER in my life, been treated this unfairly, by any company, ever... like a fuckin broken record anytime someone says something bad about SE, but goddamn... even in their attempt to help they are showing blatant disregard and inconsistency...

that's all i have to say... like sparthos said, SE could've been heros in this matter, but they just clusterfucked it up...

hell, for all we know, the SE customer service is reading these forums and intentionally screwing over people who have anything bad to say about their support... after recent events, it wouldn't fuckin surprise me..

I think the problem lies in the account matter. People who were hacked and had it locked immediately by a GM or by POL the next day and found out that their personal information still remained intact and the same were able to get it back very quickly after filing the notarized form since there isnt really much to investigate if nothing was changed besides the password. I think thats the case of the person 2 posts above who was able to get it back in 3 days. Then theres another group of people who had their accounts hacked, password changed / address changed/ cc info changed which now makes it a longer process for SE to investigate after sending the forms in to make sure it really is you theyre giving the account back to.

How did you get a GM to lock your account when most GM encounters to do with hacked accounts refer you immediately to the POL account telephone line (with SS to support this), stating that they are unable to do anything as this is an account issue, not an internal game issue? Did they make a change recently in GM power and jurisdiction that they haven't announced? Do you mean you were able to call into POL right away or did the GM actually step in to help?

Not sure if there was a change but the day i was hacked , last Wednesday at around the exact time POL closed is when my pass was changed. I have another account I use to power lvl myself which did not get hacked and so i used him to call a GM seeing as i had no other option into notifying anybody and he basically asked me the same questions pol reps ask. He locked my account within 5 minutes of ending my convo with him, i didnt think it was true until i called next morning and found out indeed it was listed as compromised and locked already. I'll post screens once my account is returned back with the GM to avoid any kind of issues that might arise since alot of my personal info are on the screens. I'd advise anybody though to do the same even when pol closes because they might just given gm's the authority to somehow lock an account based on verifying account information as a counter measure for being compromised after POL center closes. Just a heads up.

I bet after she hung up she laughed at me and didnt send no email to the team working on all of thise ><.

yea i talked to a chick rep one time that said the exact same thing, except this was 2 weeks ago... as of monday it will have been 4 solid weeks since they signed for my notarized form... i talked to richard yesterday, he told me "all accounts are different, some accounts can be returned the day we get the form, some can take a couple days, some could take a couple MONTHS. there is no guarentee, and there is no timeframe we can give, and we can't reveal any information about the investigations because the investigation team isn't allowed to share the info."

I explained that this was the worst I've ever been treated as a long-term customer at a company, and he basically put me in my place with "well, think back to november, you would've been SOL because there wasn't any plans at all for policy changes"

I just wanted to unload my frustration on the guy, but that wouldn't solve anything. Plus, Richard is actually one of the nicer, more empathetic reps.

But it's still a bunch of hoop-jumping bullshit!

I called se last night just to see if they had gotten my notarized form yet but Christine couldn't answer that, which I expected about as much. So I asked about the condition we could get accounts back in, and she said there is no roll back at all, aside from the one item restore, which she said only goes back a week. LOL the account got haxd in december, HALLLLLOOOOOO. So yeah, don't expect much if you had gear 'n gil (both of which I had niether ><).

I also asked if quested r/e items that were tossed if we could redo said quest, but she didn't have an answer and I imagine SE has no plan for that...

I've been following this thread for the last 2 weeks but this is my first real post on the board (long time reader though). I called a week from last Monday to report my account getting hacked. I had previously quit last April but someone sent me an IM on AIM saying I was online in FFXI on New Years Eve. I knew the approximate time as well so that aided in my case as well. So I called 2/26/08 and sent the form to them as well. They got it on 2/29/08 and I just heard from them about 5 minutes ago. I called two days ago stating I had not gotten the original email containing the notary form. I talked to Zack (who is incredibly cool and helpful. The first time I called I got Dan who was helpful and very nice as well) and he said he would email his supervisor to make sure another email was sent out from a new address that goes through 100% of the time. I got that email within 30 minutes (he said it might take a day or two to me). I asked him about my situation (having explained it) and wondered what his opinion was since I gave them everything they asked for: entire POL key, old CC, address, full name (first, middle initial, last) and original street addy that I registered with (I had moved since then twice for school.) He said I should get it back (based on his personal opinion and it was just a matter of time). So today on 3/6/08 I received the email stating that I need to call and give them all the information as well as the confirmation code for my notary form.

Anyways, just wanted to say thanks to Jeny and everyone who posted their stories in this thread. I feel for you all especially when I was considering making my comeback to FFXI and I couldn't even do that when I wanted. I know most people have been waiting longer and were currently playing at the time but I will be pulling for you. I was very anxious and like I said before I was on an extended break (about a year now). I wish you all the best and will continue to keep checking this thread to see if everything panned out for you all. Hope to see you around Vana'diel soon!
