So, i log in today when i got home from college.. ready to move server to join a Linkshell that i applied to, and i kept getting UCS-9003 error so i thought oh, SE must be doing maint on registration servers, goto log in to FF and wham. WHERE THE HELL ARE MY CHARACTERS. Phoned up Se immediately, confirmed all data, and said i should be restored within a week, with all my macros and crap set to default.

this morning I log in to pol and see I have a message from Taibout. never met the guy nor know him but he wanted to be friends. Also the message had a website to buy gil. It wasn't an email just a message but is there anything these flat nosed bastards can do through pol message to hack in through? After my last hack i've been so careful. reformatted HD stayed away from all the old FFXI site I used to go to. switched to firefox, adblock, flashblock no script. check updates weekly on flash and windows. And change pol password weekly useing ps3.

And then yesterday without contacting SE since the June email I get this email

I wouldn't pay much attention to it. I the same e-mail as you last night, MONTHS after I got my compromised account back. I called SE this morning thinking whoever stole my account the first time was trying to get it back, but apparently, the fact that my account is not frozen means they haven't initiated any new investigations.

My only guess would be someone from SE accidentally sent out this e-mail to random people on record from previous investigations...

It think my BF and I are FINALLY getting somewhere with our hacked account. It was hacked back at the earlier part of this year. I contacted a GM in game IMMEDIATELY but he told me there was nothing he could do.. would have to wait till the weekday and call SE. So weekday comes, contact SE.. they say they can't seem to prove yet if the account belongs to us or not (despite the fact RMT did the server transfer on MY credit card..) so all I could do at the time was get my credit card removed from the account. They say they'll investigate it, months later after calling them up almost every day, they STILL haven't even frozen the account because I still see the account online on my friends list.. (RMT didn't erase FL apparently.) They just give usual excuses saying blah blah, can't confirm anything yet so they can't freeze it..

Then started giving us the run around saying it was on the list to be frozen by the end of the night, but had to keep calling up because it STILL wouldn't even be frozen.. Then they give us a password and say we'll be able to log onto the account by tomorrow but sadly, account is still online, can't access it, etc... So stilll calling.. What I don't understand is why they would keep saying they were going to do something about it but didn't..

So finally last night we got transferred to a different department (I guess the ones that deal with the RMT.. STF or something like that.) They tell us they've confirmed the account is RMT and is actually part of a RMT linkshell on Bahamut but they don't want to freeze the account yet because they are trying to track the IP addresses to ban them.. (which really is pointless because they probably connect through proxies anyway..) Well, they said they'll freeze it by the end of the week and work on getting it back to us. >_< So HOPEFULLY they are telling the truth this time. :[

From my own experience, and people I've spoken to, you'll get your account back. I told him my ban was for a third party illegal software usage AFTER the date I was hacked, and told him all of my registration codes for my PS2 expansions and had my account back within 2 days after USPS confirmed its delivery.

I'm sick of dealing with this crap.. It's BS. I'm sick of SE lying to me and giving me the run around? I just want to know, has anyone else had any problems regarding SE flat out lying to them all the time? First they keep giving me dates I can get back on my account but it never happens. They keep saying they'll freeze the account but that never happens. They've even given me passwords to log into the account SEVERAL times and even those were lies.. Not only that, my BF and I were flat out told it's known RMT on the account. Just the other night they gave us a password to the account and said we could log in after they were done transferring it back to our home server and so forth.. that never happened and the RMT was STILL on the account. Called today and they told us the STF reset the password change for some reason and that even they don't know so that we have to wait and contact the STF AGAIN (which we already did in the past and they said they were just going to let the RMT use the account for a few more days or something to try and get the ip addresses or some BS..) But yeah, they are lying too..

All of this is REALLY suspicious to me and I've NEVER heard of it happening to anybody else.. Does the STF actually work for RMT as well or some crap? why keep lying to us? has anyone else had these problems or even heard of them happening to anyone else!? :/

so, my account got hacked a month back and I sent in a votary form and requested a rollback and everything. The hacker pretty much transferred my account to bahamut and sent all my stuff to another person.

The problem is that I requested a rollback, I got the e-mail that it happened but for some reason my stuff was still missing. I was able to log on when they supposedly "locked down" the account and check if everything was still there and from the time when they did that to now, nothings changed. Its like the only thing they did was transfer my account back to quetzy.

I called the pol info center and talked to a GM and they said they can't do anything about it. Does anyone have a similar problem?

Tell them that it was not done correctly, they should have asked you if it was all restored as it was.

Ok, i was hacked last year. So every friday I run avg and regedit the smart.dll rsbo.exe and the other known trojans or keyloggers known about. Well yesterday after I updated avg and ran it i had 17 trojans on my pc which was moved to the virus vault and deleted. I then reran avg and found nothing. After the 2nd run of avg I then checked my reg keys and found the in3.dll file. I brought up 3 files it was in and I deleted immediatley without thinking about writing the files down. Kinda got freaked out since If i got hacked again I would most likely quit. My internet surfing is very small. last week I used limewire to get some music, but ran avg after and had nothing pop up. Other then that I hadnt even turned the internet on this week because of work. I dont download anything other then music and the only ffxi site I go to is this one. So after deleting the in3.dll file and restating my pc and rerunning avg and checking regedit and turning nothing up is it safe to play ffxi on my pc? Not having any slow startup/shutdown times, add/remove working properly. Any help appreciated as searching the internet for what in3.dll is hasnt given me much light other then its a trojan

whut? a virus can only be attached to executables, or a file containing executable code. mp3's and wma's are just streamed data to whatever music player you use, although, wma's can have redirect URL's in them, so i tend to stay away from them anyway. i only use torrents for music lately, and i do it on a separate machine. using p2p or downloading shit from any ad-riddled website is just asking for trouble. I did all that shit on my gaming box like an idiot, and lost my account for 8 and a half months(somepage.com motherfuckers).

yeah, don't fuck around thinking your safe, i've already heard of people who got their accounts back almost immediately getting re-hacked. if you value your character at all, format, reinstall, etc. then setup your safety programs and pretty much have yer shit set to "paranoid". SE won't rollback you twice.

I'm not very computer literate so can you please explain a bit more? HDD means hard drive am I right? And as for reformat don't you need the CDs or something that first came with the computer? Because I lost that lol, also when you say safety programs, is Spybot enough or would you recommend another?
