i must admit i let my fanboy write that review. Speed racer was one of my favorite cartoon when i was a kid and watching the live action made me remember some of those memories. I know they anime story was way to simple, but still this movie was what I expected it to be.

I'm sure the movie will fill the niche of 'special effects movie' that hasn't been filled since Sin City. And since I geek out over chavo del ocho and like movies like 5th Element I just might check it out anyway with zero expectations on the story.

The associated press review of this movie, which unfortunatly my paper carried was written very obviously by someone who went into the movie thinking 'it's times like this I hate my job'. Honestly I'm not saying it's a great movie, I haven't seen it yet, but the way the review was worded I imagine her sitting though it texting her friends, the way she described the special effects was just really wordy without being descriptive so...

We'll see, I think I'm kinda with Correction on this one, it looks like it might be worth it visually.

Are you all fucking serious? I just saw this movie, and everything was spot on (except the whole Racer X identity thing). I'm not a fan of Speed Racer, but I do know it. It was seriously a good movie, not sure if it was as good as Iron Man, but definately close.

The only complaint I have is near the end of the movie, on the last part of the last race, so much shit is happening that its seriously impossible to tell what's going on, because its going so fast. But that's it. The actors are perfect for their roles, they do the whole Japanese thing where they show you scenes you've seen not even 15 minutes ago as a memory (the Japanese love that for some reason), everything is all dramatic and fast all the time. It really is a good movie.

and first time seeing speed racer. kinda. 12:25. this movie was so awesome i fell asleep during it lol.

Saw it on the IMAX with my g/f today and I must say I really liked a lot. I thought the story line is fairly decent, I really think tho that this movie was made to watch on the IMAX.

Special effects were definitely amazing, lots of bright colors. The races reminded me of F-Zero GX. Cheesy lines, monkey flinging poop, it has its pros and cons, but the only thing I'd really complain about is the movie felt a little bit too long. Over 2 hours of racing and skittle-colored effects was too much for me at least. I probably would have been completely satisfied if it were 15 mins shorter.

I didn't really want to see this, but I don't regret going. I ended up enjoying it overall.

By the way, whats up with those Indiana Jones reviewers? Didn't read them myself, but a couple early anonymous screeners are giving negative feedback. Trailer looked great to me, maybe these duechebags are just trying to stir up shit on purpose to look cool.

I personally think Harrison Ford needs to go back to the Retirement Home. The Indiana Jones trailer just looked.. ugh. I doubt I'll watch it. Doesn't look very good.

If its anything like the preview, I see how it could be enjoyable, and I probably would enjoy it for what it is.

The trailers for this movie look like neon lights vomited on my TV.

Ugh. Look, I understand that movies all require some degree of suspension of disbelief, but when you totally have to shut your head off to enjoy a movie- when you have to *try* not to think- thats where I have problems. I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting old. The trailers made me want to stay far, far away though.
