Re: Campaign Battle, EXP & AN Earned

Are these cap's listed some where (150 enhancing, etc.)? This does explain couple of my first rdm testing campaigns...

These cap's are based off of main job? or any job? If I go thf/rdm, could i quickly cap enhancing at the start, then melee, cast enfeebles, then cure - caping all 4 - change tag?

A question of my own...If I go out to a Campaign on SAM, can I game the system by doing Hasso>Seigan>TE>TE>Hasso>Seigan>TE>TE and a random buff, turning in my tags every 2 minutes for my 132, or will this not work? I tried it once before, but I think I turned my tags in after only 30 seconds and thus got 0 points from it.

The per-minute cap, on the other hand, is just a way of keeping people from getting massive XP totals by spamming an action and turning in their tags, then repeating. The thing to remember about this cap is that it doesn't limit you from earning more XP, it limits you from receiving that XP.

For example, let's say your per-minute cap is 60 XP, and in your first minute of action you cast 20 self-buffs. If you turn in your tags after one minute, you get 60 XP. If you turn them in after two minutes, you get 120. If you turn them in after three, you only get 150 because even though your 3-minute cap is 180 and self-buffs are 20 points apiece, self-buffs cap out at 150. Note that you can literally spam buffs in the first minute and go afk for the next two and this would still work.

To expound on that, say you wanted to do campaign by self-buffing only. What you'd want to do is to cast 8 self-buffs to cap out at 150 points, then turn your tags in once every three minutes to circumvent that 150-point cap and start over. If you wanted to do Campaign solely on buffing other people, you would cast 30 buffs at 10 XP apiece to reach the cap of 300 XP, and you'd renew your tags every five minutes because of the 60 XP per-minute cap. Make sense?
Ok so self buffs cap out at 150, buffs to others 300, the damage taken/given have no caps correct? And what about abilties, I dont understand when/how often to use them for max exp either. In general im trying to decide the best sub for PLD to use for max exp. Now it seems like with /rdm im usually using, im gonna need to keep turning in tags alot to get the most. /rdm really does have bonuses tho, like En spells, and blaze spikes which count towards the magic cap as well, but /nin id put out alot of DD and still be able to cap out on buffs. then theres /war.. more abilties and more def, which I dont see being best now for sure.

Damage taken and given have no known cap, but they very well may be capped**. Ignoring all subjobs PLD as main has access to most of the different categories. The highest possible exp for 30 minutes is 2400, for this you must be the highest rank (Emblem of the Steel Knight §§§) and at least level 61. If you can already reach this it doesn't matter how many more actions you perform or how many tags you turn in, you wont get any more exp. As for abilities, some of them don't seem to grant any EXP (like perfect dodge and hide), we need more testing on the different abilities. I know your question was how to I go about receiving the maximum EXP, but before you try to increase EXP make sure you aren't already hitting your cap.

I think it's possible to cap out your EXP on PLD with any of those subjobs, but some might be easier based on how you play. If you aren't hitting your cap, allowing yourself to take more damage might be 1 solution. The nice about taking damage as PLD is that you can cure back your lost HP for more EXP.

    **Excluding fortification battles.

For example, if it takes you 5 minutes to hit the 150 XP cap, and the campaign battle lasts ~30 minutes, you can get ~30/5 or ~6 times the XP by trading in tags. That's ~6*150 for ~900 XP. On the other hand, if you only used one tag and never traded it in for a new one, you'd only get 150 XP since that's the cap for a single tag.
... ok hopefully I'm not wrong on this one:
If you don't trade your single tag and stay 150xp for 30 minutes, that means you don't generate any actions that push 150xp per 5 minutes for 25 minutes. Because really... you're holding 1 tag for 30 minutes, hence the cap is raised up to 30 minutes. The only thing you get below cap is that you don't do sufficient action to hit the cap

    EDIT: nvm
I didn't know the max of certain actions are constant amount per tag

That helps to explain it. Yeah i have hit 2400 a few times, with the 2nd emblem medal. As far as mainly using PLD/RDM its awesome for spells, phalanx..but if im reducing dmg dealt and curing done, I am just slowing down the process I see. If self buffs cap at 150ish, then why use /rdm, because you can get that cap np casting protect > shell > protectII etc. Seems /nin is the way to go. As for the 6+ wave fights in jugner..you really need to turn in tags every few waves, cuz ive gotten 3 rounds of about 1500 in each in 1 campaign battle doing that.

Re: Campaign Battle, EXP & AN Earned

The best thing you can do to see if you're reaching cap during your Campaign battles is to start a timer when you get your tag (based on when "You are now participating in a campaign battle." shows up in your log), or record the timestamp if you have windower open with the plugin on, then just go about your normal Campaign business.

At the conclusion of the battle, stop the timer or record the time your tags ended. Round down to the nearest minute (even if it's like 23:59, it's only 23 minutes). Then, figure out what your cap per minute is (60 + 2 for every medal you have beyond the default one). Multiply that by your total time in minutes, then round down to the nearst 5. (ie: 23 minutes multipled by 68 Exp/minute is 1564; rounded down to 1560) This will be the number you should have gotten. If you got something slightly less and your minute value was questionable, try substituting for 1 minute less and see if it works out.

If either of these work, you got capped exp and the only thing you can do to increase it is getting better medals.

Re: Campaign Battle, EXP & AN Earned

6 minutes campaign as COR59 in Meri. Mountain as a :windy: person.

    Corsair roll - once
    Double up - twice

    16/10 EXP/AN

    2nd attempt(6 minutes too):

    Phantom roll - twice
    Double up - 4 times
Random Deal and successfully resetting Phantom roll - once

    48/30

Does that mean Double up is excluded in point calculation?

Yes it does appear that Double Up is excluded in point calculation. Just to double check, you did at least once successfully enhance a Phantom Roll with double up right? It does seem unlikely that out of 6 uses you wouldn't have.

Ah, sorry, I should have been more clear. They were 2 seperate runs obviously(I was doing Vanguard X II there when Campaign started, so I decided to test if double up counts toward the points), for the 1st run, I only did Corsair roll, which started as 1, and then with the 2x double-up, I got it to 8, so I stopped there. For the 2nd run, I did Chaos roll 1st, double-up once and it got to 8, stopped, random deal, and hit Evoker roll, and did 3x double-up(all low numbers) until I get 11. None of them were busted, so all of them did successfully enhanced the Phantom roll without busting(well, Chaos roll got unlucky).

If that's what you are asking.

Re: Campaign Battle, EXP & AN Earned

For Pld, or most any melee job, I'd sub /Dnc for max campaign exp earned.

I notice soloing a campaign mob tends to give 1500-1700 Exp except for the really tough ones, which go up to 2000, though usually in a single wave without a horde of PC's/clogged with NPC's, it just barely lasts long enough to cap out at 1800 or so.

That's as War/Dnc, spamming waltzes to stay alive.

I did some testings. Swapping -HP and +HP gears in then Cure self.

1st time, Cure for 370 and wait till CB ended (1 wave)
    -37 exp/18 AN earned
*10hp cured per 1 exp earned

2nd time, Cure for 18k-ish hp and wait till CB ended (1 wave)
    -500 exp/250 AN eanred

    ^_^ this supports curing cap

You'd need to post how much time you were in each campaign.

No he doesn't, really. Since his AN was half his exp, he didn't get capped by time, so what you're seeing is the total amount earned by his actions.
