I've often thought that done w/o proselytizing, some kind of RPG or Strategy game based on christian mythology could be cool

Problem with that is there's no cool monsters or anything in Christianity. In, say, Greek you've got gorgons, chimeras, sea monsters, the works. In Norse, you've got giants and dwarves and dragons and shit.

What's Christianity got? God, Satan, some angels and a bunch of people.

Read Revelations and you'll shit bricks.

Some of the monsters they describe in there are fucking horrifying.

Or just take the jewish/christian mysticism to make your story. Give some messed up story like Xenogears, Xenosaga or Evangelion if you use your imagination alittle bit. Bible probably had the best apocalypse and genesis out of every religious story. Norse mythology had some cool stuff too, but it sound more like a drunk story than anything

There is also literature like Dante's inferno (divine comedy) that can be used to build some nice 'Christian' setting. Many stories are influenced by it and the whole symbolism.

The whole demon thing also come from the bible. Demons like asmodeus are pretty popular in rpg, and come straigth from the Bible. Shadow Heart is a good example of story influenced by that aspect.
