yeah, i tried it a couple times first without thinking about what accessories i had, then realized how much that anti-paralyze ring near the zone made sense ._.

These boss fights are actually very well played out, you can't just tap A and expect to win like in most RPGs, which makes these fights a looooooooot harder than regular battles.
Right now i'm on the White Boa and Jansen just kidnapped the queen, rofl I love that character.. and yeah, story is definitely good so far.![]()
He wasn't impossible, but comparing it to FF games, the 2nd boss you fight is almost always a pushover. You basically have to want to die to them to actually lose. LO took me by surprise in that it was an actual hard fight. Mostly luck though, if he uses the AOE wing move, it almost always one-shots Jensen and then it turns into a raise/cure/die/raise/cure/die chain until you eventually lose. His HP wasn't high, so going all out at the beginning with fire bombs and spells did the trick the 3rd time I fought him (I also leveled up to 14).Originally Posted by Exoduso
Anyway, played another long time today. The memories still fail to disappoint, they're written really well. It's like reading Roman mythology all over again where ever story has a moral or something tied into it. Very well done.
The cutscenes following the fight you go through after meeting Cooke and Mack.... wooooooooooooow.
When I say get out there and buy this game right fucking now, I'm basing it SOLELY on this cutscene. When you get there you'll know what i'm talking about, especially if you've been following Kaim's dreams and story closely enough until that point.)
Would you say this game would be worth a 360 purchase? It almost pushed me today though the money is for a PS3.. I am STILL waiting on Sony to announce ANYTHING about that White PS3 SKU that appeared last month.
If you like RPGs, I say go for it... this game is just breathtaking so far, in terms of everything but especially the story and music. (plus there are other decent rpgs out for the 360, eternal sonata and blue dragon to name a few..)
I just might, I am pretty sure that I will overlap the amount of money I have saved for the PS3 and a few games by the time anything gets announced.![]()
Honestly, the PS3 has no RPGs out right now though and won't have any for awhile (white knight story wruuuuuuuuu ;, so I'd still go with the 360 for LO/BD.
First game in a while I haven't heard a single bad thing about in this amount of time, other than load times which was more or less rectified.
First boss is kicking my ass (2nd, I guess... at top of hill)... even levelled up a bunch.. bah.. haha. Got discouraged and turned off, game is so amazing though. Will ownorate tomorrow. I effing LOVE the dreams so far. This game is godly. Everything I hoped for
Edit: The one song in the game.. wow this will be vague.. I believe its like overworld music... not really.. i donno... its one of the main themes... sounds just like another song, like a rock song, with kinda an electronica vibe to it, but slowed down... if anyone has had that same thought + knows name of song, can you tell me? Have the tune stuck in my head but no words to look up song by![]()

Bah, you guys HAVE to get to Numara's port and get to this cutscene/s I just went through... I can't even stress enough how epic they are lol.
As for the boss fights, keep healing... i'm assuming you've been skill linking the immortals with Jansen? If not do that and level up a bit until they earn enough SP to have at least white and black magic lv1 leveled up and equip them with it... after that, just have 2 attacking at a time, and the 3rd (preferably Jansen) healing whoever the boss is attacking.
Honestly that boss didn't even AoE me once, so I kicked his ass pretty damn fast. I guess you could take comfort that it's the hardest boss in CD1 according to people (even though I found boss #3 to be more annoying until I figured out I had to protect myself from paralyze...)
Anyways keep teaching the immortals shit, both through skill linking (and don't forget to equip the onces you want after you've mastered the skills...) and through the rings you create/find.
Yeah, but he's AOE'd me every time, most of the times 2+ times in a row, and its impossible to heal through that. I even tried a Barrier rotation once (everyone in my group has all the skills they can at this point, heh.. ~Lv14 group) but it hits for more than 100 each... and the items heal for 100... so either you do no DPS and fight a downhill battle or go all out and die quick (if he AOE's, that is)
I guess I just got lucky then heh... keep trying I suppose.
Does he only AoE at a low HP? Because I destroyed him pretty quickly towards the end.
I love a lot more than just RPG games...Originally Posted by Exoduso
Then I would still suggest the 360 right now over the PS3. Unless you're dying for MGS.
EDIT: Anyways back on topic... fetching quests were quite annoying, but the cutscene that followed + music that went along with it actually had me shed a tear... and that's a rare occurance for me, especially in games... think the last time was the ending of XS3 with Jin and Shion.
Powerful game is POWERFUL
Boo, cd1 is over... guess i'll call it a night heh.
I might give this a try for the story if it's worth it. When someone finishes it tell us if the story alone is worth buying it for. I'm always looking for games with good writing.
Well if CD1 is any indication, the story is amazing.
You're always going to get different accounts for the story. Some people love Xenosaga and hated Kingdom Hearts, yet both had long drawn out bland cut-scenes. Settings/characters/plots have always been something that differs from person to person in taste.Originally Posted by Elcura
Edit: Basically my point is if you're that interested I'd recommend just playing it.
Friend has it, going to borrow when he's done with it, and going to beat it. Really excited for the classic RPG system to show alot of potential on one of the new consoles.
