Not that one, Im talking about the boulder on the short pyramid.

Push it on the lift, a second one will come up with a valuable item on it (peice of tablet)

Ya thats what I thought, but I pushed it all over the lift and nothing happened, ill try again.

Whats the deal with the valuable items anyways?

    Key items, if you will.

Also to all the people worrying about time, i'm already @45 hours and i'm only 4 or 5 hours into my side quests, without a crapload I still haven't done. I've done everything storywise up until the final dungeon (haven't gone there yet though), but i'm assuming i'll end at around the 60-70 hour mark once I finish everything.

Don't worry about missing stuff btw, you can go grab anything you missed in CD4 once you have full access to the world/zones.

It has to be in the middle so the lift can go up
Valuable item are "key items" and are for side-quests, like the old man in Namura that wants the crystals you get from the flowers in the crimson forest

The secret bosses aren't insanely tough, but they're pretty damn hard compared to the other enemies/bosses in the game... nothing like the ultra hard bosses from the FF's though (that aren't so hard when you can spam Lionheart, but still. )

    Re: Lost Odyssey

Just beat the game, although a couple story points are rushed (Maybe they were explained more thoroughly in Dreams which I didn't read), overall its an amazing game with an ending that is worthy. A couple parts could tug at your heart strings like they did mine, but I'm a sap for love stories. Looking forward to any endgame content they release on X-box live!

If you need help with anything just ask....I know some parts had me stumped and frustrated (Especially with no guides even available if you've been stuck for hours ><)

Edit: I've been sitting here with the title screen music playing for like 30 minutes...I don't think I could ever get sick of this theme, the music throughout is fuckin insane for lack of a better descriptive phrase.

    Re: Lost Odyssey

So what ended up being the deal with the disciples? was it really 1 element per enemy? How does that work, since there are only 4 main elements + physical and 7 enemies?

As for the dreams, they only tell you about recollections of their 1000 year lives on the planet, it doesn't say anything new, just tells of past recollections. I did go to Gongora's basement in CD4 though, and there was a pretty good part where where you hear a recording, not sure if you heard it yet or not but it's worth going there and listening to it, it sure explained a lot for me and I didn't even go to the final dungeon yet.

    Re: Lost Odyssey

They were named after colors...Red (Fire), Green (Wind), Yellow (Earth), Blue (Water), Gold (Physical) and something else I forget but I used Gamble to kill it, so probably Spirit Magic/Non Elemental Magic (Maybe try Forcea/Forceus for further clarification).

You have to use the damage type their color represents against them...NOT what the element is weak to. They have real shitty HP (I forget, it was less than 2000 though, might have even been less than 1000) so since you know how to hurt them, you can essentially wipe them all out in 2 rounds. The only challenge was figuring out how to damage them in the first place...lucky me

its in his study or w/e the fuck it is, there's a quick boss fight there that isn't too much trouble and after that on the right side there's some purple pod you can click on.

    Re: Lost Odyssey

Holy fuck, the final boss for the endgame dungeon was SO hard, even with a full party of level 67's... Fucking asshole has 2 minions with him, and every time you get close to killing one of them they sacrifice themselves, which in turn heals/resurrects the main boss and the other minion. I finally took 1 minion down (thanks to a very clever Death ring attack that just happened to proc), and then actually went after the boss and killed him, and right as I do and try to kill the minion, the asshole sacrifices himself, which raises both the main boss AND another minion. >.<

Kept attacking the minion with my death rings until he finally died, after that it was smooth sailing to destroy the boss a 2nd time.

I'm done with all the side quest boss fights heh... still got a shitload of side quests/missions/dreams to do, but all the bosses are dead.. ;; I hope they release some DLC soon cus this dungeon was long and annoying but the battles weren't that challenging (although extremely time consuming, and obviously that doesn't include the boss fight heh.)

    Re: Lost Odyssey

Personally, I thought the main story was kinda terrible. You know within 15 seconds of seeing the main bad guy that it's him, even before he does anything inherently evil. This games story is a prime example of something telling and not showing. Instead of having the story flow along side the game play, the story drags you around by the hand and you spend most of your time trying to catch up. Like when you first get to Grand Staff, after fighting the boss, you run into a character who I lovingly refer to as "General Tightpants" and are accused of being Uhra spies, despite the fact you are at an Uhra facility, and if anything, they are trespassing on Uhra's land, and yet you get arrested! Also, yes, we get it, magic suddenly surged into the world and it is used to run things, but the whole "Magic Engine" thing just seems shoved down your throat, and Magic Energy is brought up in the corniest of ways. It is the ultimate plot hole. It exists completely within the setting, but just explains away everything. You get to Gohtza, and what are they afraid of? Invading troops? No. Long drawn out wars affecting their political and economic situations? No. They are in fact worried about Uhra and Numara bringing the brunt of their Magical Energy on them. I don't know, maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think the story just sucks goat balls.

That being said, I actually was surprised at how well "A Thousand Years of Dreams" was written. I honestly don't know what happened, maybe the writers were just better with small vignettes then they were with a four disc long story, but something just doesn't add up.

Oh, and the ring system gets fucking annoying after a while. It's the god damn gunblades all over again.

    Re: Lost Odyssey

The ring system is the only keeping the battle system from being a drag... I would've fleed from battles during the middle of cd2 if it wasn't for that. It's not like you do it just for shits and giggles, you do it to inflict the status effects of your rings etc. and if you know how to work them during battle you can own shit pretty easily and effectively.

Also I disagree with your thoughts of the story... you're cutting it to bits and pieces and trying to analyze it and waste more time doing that than actually simply enjoying it. Honestly, I knew something was off in that council meeting in the beginning of the game, but I thought that the country as a whole were the bad guys, not necessarily 1 person in particular. I also don't understand how you thought the story drags you by the hand... unlike some other games where you just run around from dungeon to dungeon with 5 minute cutscenes separating them, I thought this was actually pretty well done... good stops for minigames, city visits, etc.

The story (especially in cd3) was exceptionally well imo, way better than the garbage rpgs that have come out in the last half a year or so (excluding persona3).

I think you're being too harsh on it honestly, you do seem to be in the minority as far as enjoying the game since everybody else i've talked to loves it so far (both people who have beaten it and are beginning it alike..)

Then again, can't have everybody like everything can we? Could care less if others like it, I think it's the first RPG I've actually enjoyed enough to play the sidequests/endgame stuff for since FFX.

Have you done any of the side quests/secret boss fights? I thought those were a lot more fun and challenging than the regular boss fights in the game.

    I feel your pain. =(

While i am actually still able to play the game (Xbox ix dieing, not dead) I still do so at the risk of getting a Dirty Disc Error in between saves... which sure takes the fun out of this game fast.

My XBox Coffin (#1) is on its way, and I will have my fingers crossed for both of our refurbs...

Just started disk 3. This game is so epic it's not even funny. I powerleveled my characters at the Numara Atoll, Silver Kelolons are SO easy with Gamble.

Can't wait to play the game, but it probably wont be anytime soon. I really hope it sell well, don't want to see their studio close after 2-3 games.
