    Christ, 4 dual-layered DVDs......those hold up to 8.5gbs of data. How many bloody FMVs are they stuffing into this game?
    (won't be much longer before disc-swappin becomes common on the 360 the same way it was on the PSX)

    Anyways, I agree on the battle music, if that's all there is, it'll get tiring (for me) hearing it from scratch everytime. It sounds more like a piece of music you'd hear once and that'd just be it. The theme music on the other hand is godly......makes me wish SquareEnix would put a fucking budget into FFXI and hire an orchestra for the game music.
    (or a better synthesizer)

    Yeah, start is really weird, but depending on the boss it might be appropiate and go from weird to awesome. Rest of the song kicks ass though.

    but lol @ 4 DVDs, that's fucked up. I remember going from 3/4 discs in VII > IX to 1 in X/XII. Seems like a step backwards to me.

    I dunno, I loved disc swapping in the PSX era... I was always full of anticipation as to WHEN that hard boss will come by, after which the CD change will occur.

    personally I thought 8 was his best work, and no not just because of the incredible opening theme.

    I've beaten and own both, if I hold bias it's probly because I own the soundtrack to 8 and not 9. I really really like every last song on 8 though.

    9 was easily his best score. And the songs for this new game sound awesome. I'm not too discouraged hearing that there's a lot of cutscenes in the game. It's coming from Hironobu Sakaguchi. The guy is just good at telling a story.

    Everywhere I go to I see people bashing the turn based system in games... wtf is the problem with turn-based now? it was the standard for so many years and it worked.

    Just because almighty SE took it out of FF12 doesn't mean it's bad to use it. Plus, you have to remember that the team working on this COMES from the turn-based FF games, obviously they will keep that trend.

    I don't know whether you're directing those sentiments at me, or whomever else you were referring to in your original post, but i'll go ahead and assume the latter and ignore it.

    I can only say that according to my tastes, a game being turned based isn't exactly enough to make me say it sucks, even though i would prefer a more active one, but i presume to the people you are talking about it matters more?
